I too think she is overweight.

Yes, too heavy. When you look on her back, it is too wide. That has nothing to do with the curve on the side. It means too many fat deposits on the back. She should slim down and when she is older with exercise the fat deposits will hopefully disappear with correct exercise. A growing dog is better off when kept a bit thin. That way, the dog will not be loose and have less strain on growing joints and bone.
Now, if I could only be that disciplined myself.

Chris,
I also wish I could get myself a little leaner ! It gets harder with age and having a torn ankle tendon and some serious arthritis makes it even tougher. But sorry, I don't think it has anything to do with human weight as to whether we like dogs lean or not. It does have everything to do with what is a healthy weight for a pup and especially dogs who are going to be participating in sport activities, whatever they may be.
The pup is too heavy. It is interesting because in my kennel business, I would say that 99.9 % of all dogs who are boarded, regardless of age or breed, are WAY too heavy. This includes the working dogs who are boarded here too. I do not hesitate to tell owners and help them learn how to assess the weight of the dog and how to slim the dog down. Usually, it is a matter of the owner overfeeding the dog, feeding poor quality food and the dog getting NO exercise. I have had many clients take my advice and their dogs are much slimmer and as they report, they can see a difference in the dog and how it acts.
I have a police officer whose working dog is boarded here and he told me he was having stamina issues with his dog. Well, surprise, the dog was way too heavy. I helped him slim him down and what a difference. Also the dog can now go much longer without tiring when he is on duty.

Thank you everyone !!!!,
All of you have given me some very interesting concepts,
sometimes the people that own the dog just don't
notice slight changes that take place over time &
need some outside opinions.
A growing dog is better off thin.
Well, at least the groundhog gave us an excuse to start exercising, an early spring!
HAPPY GROUNDHOG DAY EVERYONE!!!!
