I would look at the dog itself (so long as it is from working lines) and then look at its origin. If you are looking for a pup, look at the parents and, if possible, grandparents. Look for the qualities that you want in your dog. To learn what to look for, go to a SchH club, as was mentioned above; it will help you tremendously.
