HE IS NOT GOING TO BREED THIS DOG HE HAS BEEN FIXED ALREADY AS OF WEDNESDAY.

I JUST DONT BELIEVE EVERYONE THINKS THIS BUSINESS IS SO EASY. I HAVE BEEN DOING THIS WITH MY STILL MENTOR FOR 17 YEARS AND I LEARN SO MUCH EVERY DAY EITHER PEDIGREES, BREEDING, COMBOS, AND TRAINING TOO I WILL ALWAYS BE LEARNING SOMETHING NEW

by gsdlvr2 on 11 January 2008 - 22:01

He bought the dog as a pet and protector. The amount of testicles doesn't matter. The dog is not a cryptocoid because both testes did descend. The only offer I would make is number one and that is plenty generous considering the dog was not purchased for breeding and I would only do that for the dog's safety. I would not sell him another dog.

He's 8 months old, he bites the suit, hidden sleeve, deploys in and out of vehicles. Building searches, bark and hold transport, ladder and on and on.... and this guy is worried about testicles?

I'll take that pup off your hands if you get him back.... sounds to me like he has all the balls he needs.

You are being more than fair.

Well said gsdlvr2 id have him aswell castrated or not ,the man is an idiot .You couldnt be any fairer.Id say the man is trying to get another pup out of you at half price just tell him if he not happy bring dog back and you will refund him his money .Otherwise tell him to screw himself .

Steve,

this is why you have a contract. Understand that it is put in place to protect you and your buyer. You buyer purchased a pet dog, not a breeding dog. His testicles either 1, 2 or one hiding should not be an issue. Pets should be neutered. If this was me I would buy the dog back from him, (only because I don't want him to neglect my dog or mistreat him, since he can't bare to look at him) and deduct some of your training fees. Do not give this guy another one of your pups , what if the future pup is not up to his liking, will he neglect that one also. I'd tell him to go elsewhere. Again I would not do it for the buyer, I would do it  for my dog. Breeders will always have these types of buyers that scream, rant and rave if they do not get their way. Well your dog can still love him and protect him with one testicle, so giving this guy what he wants will only encourage other buyers to  try the same with other breeders. Buyers must be aware  and accountalbe to what they sign and whether they like it or not they also must  follow their contract. Afterall, aren't they always screaming that the sellers/breeders must follow their contract. The paperwork is all that a judge will adhere to. Good luck and I hope you get your boy back.

You are being more than fair.  Probably option #1 is the best bet and then be done with this guy.  The fact that the guy wants to breed and is bent out of shape because his (very nice but purchase with the understanding he was a pet quality dog) is not breed quality sends up too many red flags.  It sounds like you have put a lot of time into this guy and he doesn't appreciate you or the quality dog.  In short he a total loser.

Sue Ann (I think) recently started a thread about how maybe breeders should have a list of bad buyers.  This guy is a perfect example of why that list would be a very good thing.  His name could go right to the top.

The other thing is he could also just be cheap and is just trying to justify a refund on the dog or assistance with the surgery bill, but if that's the case, he's STILL a loser and doesn't deserve the dog.

I  thank you all for your input. I have found out that he has been hitting every breeder around the tri state are. But he has not bad mouthed me either.

I am known around my area for breeding true hard working lines and this guy has an exceptional dog. He Calls me to blow smoke saying that i am the only guy he wants to buy a dog from again and everybody elses dogs arent the same he only wants to buy and train with me.

Most of the people he went too are Showline breeders and i know they  are very good at what they do. but you are comparing to different breeds of dogs IMO. So you are not going to get the same look that he has.

He is trying on my nerves and honestly at this point i dont even want to train his dog. Especially at half price.

What do you guys think his intent is now.Especially since he is tire kicking.

by gsdlvr2 on 12 January 2008 - 18:01

If it was me, I think I would just get rid of this guy.   If you continue to train with him increase  your prices dramatically so he walks away.

I still would not sell him another dog and if he is still unhappy with this one-get him back if you can, I would still happily take him off your hands.

He may bad mouth you, he may not. It seems sooner or later someone will no matter how good you are to them and no matter how good your reputation and business practices are. Some people are just like that.

About intent, it is my belief he is a manipulative person whose intent is entirely self serving. JMO

Your offers were more than fair.  People often get emotional about things like this and don't use reason.

Did you get to talk to the vet about this, and get proof the dog really was a monorchid?  Let's just say that a claim like this can happen where there is nothing wrong with the dog at all.

I would be careful about training with him further, if he flies off the handle about such a simple thing (if it was genuinely the case), then he's likely to be all upset about something else.  He could end up costing you more money in the long run.

YET!!!,  If he is bad mouthing others, he will have no qualms about bad mouthing you if you cross him.

He is trying on my nerves and honestly at this point i dont even want to train his dog. Especially at half price.

Perhaps your instincts are telling you to drop this guy like a bad habit, I think you should take heed.

I will try and gently lay him down with hopefully the minimal amount of backlash from him
