wow, lol. wish i could get my 11 month old to stop! well, maybe not. it's a bad habit that alot of people encouraged since she was little. i would tell her no, don' t bite, and they would shove their arm or hand in her mouth saying, oh, it's ok, i don't mind. so now every time someone pets her i say, hey, she will chew on you! and again, oh, i don't mind they say. she bites hard now so usually they are ready to quit petting her after about a minute! i don't discourage it anymore. i didn't get her for other people to pet, usually i avoid letting people pet her. if i ever need to be defended i know if i let her chase someone she will bite. funny i don' t think she looks mean, just cute. she has been barking with hair up when she sees strange people at night and they cross the street rather than go by us. daytime she just wants to kiss everybody, lol. every dog i have seems to have a different personality at night, or when drunks are around.

xmanx, do you mean your dog doesn`t want to play using his teeth, doesn`t show anything known as prey drive? Right?

This is my Erko (Erko von der Zahnburg), turned 9 months yesterday. Look at his eyes - his first impulse is always not to give away anything he likes very much and takes into his mouth. He was like this at the age of 6 months, from the very first day  he arrived in Moscow from America. But nobody has ever taught him this - we are a friendly Russian family !!! :)

I think it`s genetics. That`s why I`ve been looking for such a dog for quite a long time and, thanks to Armin Winkler, found Erko in the USA (I myself live in Russia), in Art Shaw`s kennel.

You can`t demand from your dog anything that is not typical for his parents` behavior. What are they like?

WOW!!! I can't get my four month old male to stop biting! Do you mean he won't bite on a rag toy or a bone?

by beetree on 13 January 2008 - 04:01

I, think this guy is a hoax, because if you check his history, he has dogs with soft ears, no prey drive, and both puppies are less than 2yrs.   Let's see who thinks this is oKay.  oh, check it out~

Blah di Blah, even my pet shop GSD will eat his shorts! CHOMP

I woudlnt want to see you abuse this pup trying to make it bite, learn how to train and work with your pup.

I also agree about the pup, you might want a different pup with different drives for this (biting) as you call it.

My new pup it all teeth, I have to offer him diversions, other toys and activities to keep him from eating my house and everything in it,  plus both my hands are marked with little scabs from needle sharp puppy teeth.  He's a very energetic puppy.

xmanx, I suggest doing some reading up before you go any further.
