This video is has some dust on it. There is a thread on it from about a year ago. The K9 was not shot by the suspect but friendly fire. Hind sighr is always 20/20. I agree that this was a poor application of a K9. The decision was made to end the standoff and the K9 was used to facilitate the conclusion.Too bad we have to learn a lesson this way.

I understand what you are saying Kyle, however it is not hind sight, we have learned years ago this type of tactic does not work. No different than taking an unarmed officer and telling him to charge in there and punch this guy until he gives up. It's stupid and a waste and most often results in an avoidable loss.

I can only imagine the guilt the officer who deployed his dog is feeling, in addition to what would already be felt had the dog been killed in the rpocess of a wise deployment. Very sad all the way around.
