Do they have breaks, cause I can envision my own death if a cat ran out in front?

Here is a great site http://www.dogscooter.com/. There are better harneses you can use and carts special made for dogs.

The scooters are cheaper than the carts. Also the leads have some bungy cord material in them so it won't be so jerky. I want to try myself.

Check out any of the Newfie clubs too.  One of my club members put carting titles on her Newfie - she brought the cart and harness to some of our meetings. We hooked up my big guy - LOL - he turned and looked at it when he took his first step, looked at me, and just walked off., dragging the cart behind him. My vet actually recommended carting - it helps build up their hind end muscles, without a lot of impact - just not a lot of weight in the cart. I wish I could remember the site she gave me...

That looks like fun. I have a couple bitches that I just can't seem to wear out. Maybe this would be a good for them, and with the price of gasoline at $5.00 gallon.....

It doesn't say much about the ratio of how many pounds per pound of body weight that a dog should pull. With backpacking the rule is not to carry more than 1/3 your body weight. I wonder what it is with carting? I only weigh 120 lbs but could a 60 lb dog pull that and not wear on her joints?

I can just see us going on the freeway to the store. I hope I don't get a speeding ticket

Do these carts have breaks? Not like there is a bit to stop them.

On the freeway! LMAO I have already been pulled over on my horse in this town. Heaven forbid I get my dogs on the road too. Yet you do have a point with the gas prices. Months worth of gas would feed my dogs well for 6 months. Can you just see yourself pulling up to the store, leaving the dogs on a hitching post! Ha Ha I'd have every damn kid in the neighborhood begging for rides.

I'm in the Southwest. I guess I'd have to put fake horse ears and a fake tail on my dog? I have to admit I've seen some range horses that look like junkyard dogs. Great workers but, geesh, the looks!
