The justice department is nothing but a joke. If this dog gets put to death for protecting his owners... I hope to god that this judge rots in hell where he belongs. theirs no place for heaven for murderous people such as this judge.

by EchoMeadows on 02 December 2007 - 11:12

I agree that the justice system has strayed far from our "scale of justice" that we all once believed had no flaws....

I also agree that the dog owners SHOULD be penalized for hiring "Illegal" to work for them,  some corporate companies are now being fined in various states 1000.'s of dollars per day per illegal to curb the behavior that has come to be known as "seasonal" but more aptly CHEAP labor...

I also agree that this dog being put to death would be an absolute travesty !!!   The dog was doing his job !!

I also have to ask,  WHY the hell the assaulter was NOT arrested ??????????

What the heck is going on with this country ???   our troops fight ourside of our USA for freedom of other countries while we are loosing ranks here on the home front.  YES I do support our troops !!!  and pray for they're safety every single day !

Those Poor kids !!    Idiot dog owners....(having hired illegal's in the first place)   and Poor damn dog who did his job and will likely loose his life to be rewarded for his loyalty !!   USA is wonderful isn't it ??

Do you think the judge sentenced Kongo to die because he was "irked" by the public outcry? Maybe he did it just to prove he couldn't be forced to over turn his original judgement? As usual, an animal suffering senselessly because of human stupidity. And why own a german shepherd? According to this court's POV no citizen has the right to have a protective breed that will, well, "protect" if it senses it's master is in danger. Lets all just dump our naturally protective breeds at the local pound to be euthanized and get labradoodles instead, what do you all say? Would that make use more apt to be viewed as gentle, law abiding citizens? Every morning I wake up this country looks more and more like communist China...

Golden Elk,

You got that right. We are expected to begood little wimpering victims. Anyone who stands up and defends his own (including canine defenders) is a "threat to society". By the way, I would bet that the judge is more afraid of being called a racist for cracking down on a violent offender who happens to be Hispanic. Jonah

jdh, Bob O,
Ditto.
VBK9, Can't remember the last time I saw a Boxer that got aggressive. Goofy, but not aggressive.
The story is sad, sad, sad. Looked like a great dog that just would not put up with any crap. Looking at the man with his shirt off tells me the dog was for real, no sleeve happy dog. This is what our country is becoming. Between Lawyers, Peta, animal activists, and the lack of good old common sense will  be our undoing.

Golden Elk brings up a good point !!!    Judges will NOT be second guessed and to do so is suicide !!!   THE POWER be to them !!!   and they will SHOW you too !!!

Again poor kids,  and poor damn dog who did his job...

jdh,  Never have I seen that put so elequently !!   Good little whimpering victims,    LOL,  That is for sure !!!!   How dare you or I defend ourselves, or family,  be it k-9 or humanoid or other....  vigilantism has become ALL too RARE these days....  back in the day if you stole a horse you were hanged,  now days you can steal it,  sell it to the killer market,  and receive a MINOR slap on the wrist if you get caught !!!   leaving a family who loved that animal as a family member to mourne the horrific slaughter of they're dearest pet !!!   SICK FREAKS !!

LOVE THE GOOD OLD usa,  hate the new stage it has set.

I suggest you ALL check out the law in YOUR state. You might be surprised. In Washington, if I shoot an intruder or home-invader with a 45, that's fine. But, God forbid that my dog should "do his job" and bite a home-invader, even an armed one. The Dangerous Dog law DOES NOT have a provision exempting a dog protedting it property or owners from a violent, felonious attack. Furthemore, each year that a legislator tries to get such an exemption through, the schutzhund community in this state sits on its collective ass, and the legislation does not go through. Again, check your local statutes: you may find that the dog "doing its job" is in fact a crime. In this case, certainly hiring an undocumented worker her illegally was a crime. Assaulting the woman by throwing her to the ground was a crime. Hitting the dog, in some locals, may have been a crime. Undocumernted persons here illegally are committing a crime. LOTS of criminal activity in this case. And a poor dog paying the price. Nia

This is a shame!  I thought all this was over and he was going back.

I do have questions about what really happened.  But, I also am irritated by dog laws basically saying you can never have a dog that bites.

Our society wants the dogs to be cats.  They never attack anyone for ANY reason, just maybe lovey-dovey them like Labs.  Never mind that most dogs' instinct includes this guardianship.

If your dog isn't a cat, or rather a lump of rock that doesn't do anything, then you're in trouble.

The fact is, unlike firearms, dogs are autonomous creatures who act on their own, no matter how good the training or temperament (they could even have a brain tumor that snapped).  But still, even if he's just doing what comes naturally and trying to protect his property, which he doesn't hesitate to (unlike human, with or without firearm), and isn't "vicious" about it but just doing the necessary, he is labeled "vicious" and can be killed.  Also, people talk about "responsible owners" that should be locked up because their dogs did something bad - but still ignore that dogs are autonomous and act without owner's action.  I think this is way too much, too.  Liable for $$$$, sure, but making someone a criminal because their autonomous non-human friend did something untoward seems ludicrous to me.

The case was in municipal court.  It has been appealed to superior court.  The dog is home pending the decision of the appeal in superior court.
