The coup de grace was when the male turned out to be cryptorchid
I hadn't even thought about DNA testing. Since the payment was the same on both dogs I should get the same goods with them. The breeder registered her stock through the Jack Russell Terrier Club of America (JRTCA), which is not part of the AKC, however, I can contact them and see if there's some procedure they have as well. (And I never knew that about verbal contracts, good to know!)
For Ulli and Kitkat: a quote comes to mind. I can't remember where I heard it but:
"Now when you get there, don't kill him Franni... just make his knees bend the wrong way."

Wow, that breeder knew you wanted a dog for breeding? Cryptorchidism is something that can be easily found out at 8 weeks-did you have a contract with a vet check/return policy? From the sounds of this "breeder" I'd imagine not...Sounds like you are going to have two pets (not that that is a bad thing)

I felt him when I got him (breed GSDs, know to check for that) and felt both in normal position. Later, when I took him to my vet who palpated both testicles, and said they felt correct, he might be a late developer. But, in the end, only one made the grand appearence.
I wanted to return the pup to the breeder and get a refund or, preferably, a replacement. She wouldn't take him back. That was when she denied producing the female, and out meeting, and I haven't been able to get ahold of her since.
Two expensive pets. *rolls eyes* The female makes a fine "racing Jack." -- Because she travels so well I use the female as my GSD kennel's mascot. She knows Schutzhund commands, does tracking with the Sheps, and I'm working through the obedience with her.
How many people can say they have a pair of Jack Russells that'll "Aus" on command?
