ramgsd,
Those are detection dogs. I can see the lawsuits if an officer used a pitbull as a patrol dog, the damage to a suspect who is presumed inoccent.

because they are detection dogs it makes it NOT a GREAT SITE??????????? what's your point. still shows that many APBT's are doing a great job in the right hands.

Watsongsd, Good Luck on your term paper. Here is a site that might help: http://www.dogbitelaw.com/
1. How old are you? 53
2. Have you ever owned a dog ? Yes
3. Have you ever owned a pit bull ? Yes
4. Do you think banning pit bulls will decrease the number of attacks on people by dogs? No, Mandatory training and socializing of all breeds, owner education and parent responsibility is the only way to stop dog bites

6. Do you think a pitbull is too strong willed for the average person to control? No
7. Do you think pitbulls are to physically strong for the average a) female b) males to control? a. yes b. no

As this is a dog board, you can expect the answers to your questions will have a pro-dog bias. Mine are basically the same as the majority.
1. How old are you?51

3. Have you ever owned a pit bull ?no
4. Do you think banning pit bulls will decrease the number of attacks on people by dogs?no
5. Do you think pitbulls are inately vicious toward humans?no

I realize that ow so I am sampling teens, and my family member, and anyones else who will answer. I was not abale to find a government site with the state legislations yet. Tahnks for the answers, I knew this was one places I could get answers.

I think its a state's issue and you may have to go to each state's Attorney General, or hire one of those nasty lawyers to find the straight poop on the laws.

1. How old are you? 34
2. Have you ever owned a dog ? Yes
3. Have you ever owned a pit bull ? No
4. Do you think banning pit bulls will decrease the number of attacks on people by dogs?
Temporarily, yes. Then the idiots who want the "tuff dawg" macho image will switch to another breed... maybe a Cane Corso or Presa Canario or such.
5. Do you think pitbulls are inately vicious toward humans?
No. They were bred to kill other dogs, not humans.
6. Do you think a pitbull is too strong willed for the average person to control?
Yes. The average nit wit who responds to the ads in the paper that read... "APBT puppies for sale. We got the big head! $50" ... is probably ill prepared to deal with any breed of dog, much less a bully breed.
7. Do you think pitbulls are to physically strong for the average a) female b) males to control?
Since we're speaking of the "average" woman vs. man, then I'd say yes the average woman would have a difficult time trying to control an unruly pit.
8. Do you think it would be more fair to the public to instate requirements for pitbull ownership?
Requirements should include an intelligence test. Anyone dumb enough to buy a dog from a breeder who brags about their stud dog's "mammoth power - 3,300 psi!" should be given a permit to buy a toy poodle instead.
In the absense of being able to do it right, then I would propose a passing CGC by a year or two of age.

At one point in time I stumbled upon a national temperment test and the pitbull ranked higher than the golden retriever. I can't seem to find it right now, but if I do I will let you know. It might be good for your paper.
