I guess this is where my workingline blood comes in place.. A VA dog that has weak nerves and takes cheat shots is worth nothing to me. I wouldn't even have a puppy outta that dog, even if someone gives me it for FREE. I expect a high ranking dog to perform very good.I want full grips with NO chewing and taking cheat shots from the sleeve, Heck I expect the dog to fly at the sleeve (Ok my workingline blood is working to the extreme now).
Unfortunately these VA dogs spend too much time inside the conformation ring and not enough time on the working field. thats why some of them perform so terrible.
I say all of the dogs should perform a FULL schutzhund protection pattern, or maybe a FULL Schutzhund trial (tracking/obedience/protection) before they're able to qualified to enter the conformation part. that will be sweet. The best Schutzhund scores will have the qualifications to recieve VA ranking.
A woman could dream, can she?

Sorry Isle, some of us work... I would think the same reason as in Germany, of course dollars, and prestige. If read posts where at times some fully expected to do very well have failed the bitework for whatever reason. This has been talked about here, not only in the U.S. either. My thing is working lones, I do appreciate a good dog of any style of breed though, I have seen quite a few show lines I liked.
Britt, to be able to compete at this level, the dogs have already passed Schutzhund, or HGH. So yes they have all performed a FULL schutzhund routine and passed. Already meet your requirements eh?
