Nope Don it's not ignorance. I found an old thread where this particular breeder spoke up.

interesting this topic came up, i just found a breeder who says there dog is a kirschental dog.
however, im guessing that the mother was from kirschental, but sold to these people, because i dont think kirschental would be silly enough to use the stud, since he has no titles, and i believe no OFA. whats even crazier is that the father of satan is also his half brother. Jakob, satans father, was bred to his mother. and that i dont think would be happening in the hands of kirschental kennel.
so why does he name his dog satan vom kirschental if the mother was a kirschental dog. but not at kirschental kennels whenever the breeding was done?!
whats even more hilarious is they wrote their mission was to breed superior AKC german shepherds, and that "when it comes to breeding and genetics, your search ends here."---yet for one they are linebreeding and they have NOTHING to bring to the table, and secondly they have a white shepherd, which they breed.

I really don't understand people think gives them the right to "steal" someone elses kennel name like that. I guess because they can and the AKC doesn't check up on those things.

It's very tacky. I read that thread & the "reasons" given for using other kennels names, but it's a load of crap & stinks. I would be embarrased to have a dog with another kennels name if it did not come from that kennel. How stupid.

Me too sue. Very rude. I'm sure that the Fullers would not be too happy with that dog with their kennel name that did not come from their kennel.

Hello All, I really only get the chance to read the messageboard about every 2 or 3 months. I figured if I went back enough days and kept reading, I might find this topic coming up again. Well, there was no intent to "steal" kennel names, as I said before, I incorporated the dam and sire's last names and sometimes 3rd or 4th generation names. I can see this is a "major" irritant to a few and it keeps perpetuating and taking on a life of it's own. I will be using my own kennel name in the future of "Von Der Gauss". It has a sort of ring to it and it's actually because of my Great Grandmother "Rose Gauss" born in Germany in 1872 and immigrated to Michigan at age 21. Well, blessings to you all and I hope this takes a little stress and anxiety off the messageboard. Thanks for your persistence, I've wanted a kennel name for years but just couldn't put my finger on it. I wish migsd would have contacted me, I don't bite! Sincerely, PeggySue www.germanshepherdsecurity.com

maybe i have this wrong, but i thought the kennel where the pup was bred had to "sign off" on the akc form for permission to use their name in the dog's full name. i just asked ( and was granted) for permission to use my pup's kennel name in his akc application. the breeder had to sign for it. does akc or any other equivalent NOT check this? i mean, what's the point of all this if the akc (or equivalent group) doesn't give a rat's patootie to ensure that the info is true?
