Durbas is also SchH III. He is a very strong, masculine male with a big blocky head and outstanding bone. There is no doubt he is all male. His temperament is to die for. I was never a fan of the solid black until Steve brought Durbas over. He really is even more impressive in the flesh. Now I will be owning a solid black GSD male this October.

I have no doubt that Durbas is all you say he is.  He seems to be producing quite nicely from all I hear.  I have never seen him, but I have seen his pictures and he looks very nice....nicer in reality, I am sure :)   However, in the pictures I have seen, he is a true bi-color with the red/tan on his legs and I would bet under his tail.  He does not appear to be solid black, to me.

Puck is SchH3, V rated in conformation, has bone and pigment to die for, has outstanding temperament and is producing himself, and better.  He has true working structure with 'a normal' hips and a ZW of 76.

So, both of these dogs are very nice and rare to find here in the USA.  Whatever Jyl decides to do, I wish her well.

I have looked at both males closely in pedigree and pictures. I will say that I am impressed with Puck. He is built very correctly, evident is his 'V" rating. There are not a whole lot of DDR males get a V rating let alone in West Germany. I have liked the puppies that I have seen from him also. From what I have hears, and not jsut from his owner, he has an outstanding temperament.

As for Durbas, he seems to be a nice dark bi colored male. He has nice big bone and a huge head. The only thing I would question is his hip rating of fast normal. It seems he has produced nice pups.

Durbas is not a bi-color. He is considered solid black. Some solid blacks will have a small amount of red on their legs and between the toes. The way to tell if a dog is a true black is to look under the tail where it meets the body. If that area is black, then the dog is a true solid black. Durbas has the black under his tail, therefore he is a true solid black. Most people assume that if there is even the slightest color on the legs or toes the dog is bi-color. This is untrue.Genetically, the dog is a solid black.

Whichever stud you choose I wish you luck and healthy puppies.

If you are looking for a V rated DDR male with rich pigment, excellent temperament and very correct structure take a look at Arko Vom Zwickauer Marktsteig SchH III kkl1a. Also of Vom Linmarc.

There are quite  few good dogs out there. Choosing the one that's right for your female is only a decision you can make.

BTW, I have personally seen the black under Durbas' tail. I know the Linos quite well and have been down to their place numerous times. I own a female out of Arko and Peddy Vom Grafental, Puck's littermate.

Take a look at Lux vom Kameruner Eck also.  He is V rated KK1 and Sch3.

Jyl....if your DDR bitch is a good female, she will have a breeding career of a few years. Why not try all the good DDR studs mentioned above: Arko, Durbas, Puck, Aron, etc.? Then come back to the database and let us know how each sire did in combination with your female. That way, the value of this site will become even more than it already is. Good luck!

Some current "ZW" ratings, best to worst...

71  Aron Poppitz
78  Puck Grafental
83  Zwickauer Marktsteig
105  Durbas Schwedenschanzen

Being as Durbas' first progeny are not even 6 months old how did he get a 105? Since none of his pups have even been x-rayed he should at the very least/worst have a 100. And when did Arko's rating change from 78? Where do you find this information?
