ts342003

Luvmidog-

I was not saying anything negitive in this post. It was asking a question about these lines being aloof/one person dogs. When I placed that ad I had seen something in her I did not care for, but she has snapped out of it and is doing great and now is the dog I was wanting.

a puppy who is relucant to meet strangers is shy... this could be more of a nerve  issue...a puppy who clings to the owner  has to have them in site at all times at that age usually means lack of confidance...a DOG is aloof this is a trait when matured and should not come in to play yet ....I would certainely montior which  one you see in this puppy and not mistake one for the other..and get a professional opinion from a  schutzhund trainer and socilaze the puppy as much as possible whenever possible no matter what bloodline he/she is from..a lot of hype on Tierkerhook lines lately that may be self promotion here..I prefer a puppy who is outgoing at this young age and very confidant without showing sharpness or shyness as a puppy...nerves is something that have to be solid in a puppy before I would want it ...plenty of time to mature and most will not know at this age what the puppy will end up as a adult but the nerves need to be solid and shyness is never  a positive trait  ...this is why most puppies are a gamble and people prefer green dogs...when picking a puppy most trainers will test nerves first and formost...drives second as nerves no matter how good the drives may be will prevent the dog from a lot of working arenas such as schutzhund sport/police work etc. social, social, social the best thing for a puppy to be from any bloodline...confidant outgoing relaxed around anyone stranger or not..not afraid to explore on their own without sticking to the owner...all marks of a confidant puppy who should mature in to a good dog.. i hope the puppy is a good one for you but to rely on a cookie cutter stamp because it has Tierkerhook bloodlines is not all inclusive....there can be soft dogs, hard dogs, nervy dogs, confidant dogs, good dogs, bad dogs in every bloodline in any kennel...while this kennel is known to produce some great dogs I am sure there are some less than desirable ones as well...good luck  I hope she is one of the great dogs for you..doing your part will help one of the biggest mistakes is not getting a young puppy out and getting them exposed to everything people, noises, everything...glad to see you say she has come out of some of this that is a positive sign for sure...

My dog has steffi way back in the 5th. I always wondered why he was such as "ass" as I like to term it. If I sit down he will go lay down about 10 feet from me, sometimes facing me, sometimes with his back turned. Never a dog to crawl in your lap, unless you are playing and have his toy. Although he will crawl over you and just stand there. Very dominant dog, not aggressive so far, shows interest in other dogs if he is not being worked. I think he still wants to go check them out and "play" though his idea of play brings no enjoyment for the other dog. He just turned 1 yr old. Doesn't bark at the stray cats like my other dogs do but he will chase them if he is lose and they are close enough.

He will stay with me if let lose but not right up my butt like some dogs I have had in the past. He will venture off but not take off. He keeps an eye on me and if I start to walk away, he will follow once I get some distance away. Super stable, super confident, hardly barks at anything except the decoy at training. Great ball drive, I can go anywhere if I have the ball and he will heel through any distraction with focus for the reward. He does work for himself though not the handler. It's all about him. He will get closer or want to be petted once in awhile, on his terms. Doesn't mind other people, wont avoid them, he will come check them out then walk away, off to do his own thing again.

He does bark for me to come walk/feed/play with him at his set times and if he sees me and he is kenneled he will bark and want out to join me. He wont however bark all day long, he knows when breakfast time is and when I get done here at work, he has his self timer and reminds me it is time. His 1/2 sister is totally different, she loves her handler, petting, working for you, not as ball crazy but more than enough to train that way. She will run off after cats I think if given the chance. Everything catches her attention and she barks allot, especially at night. Not as confident as brother so much more aware of EVETYTHING.

I'm wondereing if I need to keep this dog with me 24/7 to get a better bond or is this just the way he is gong to be?

I can't speak for Ts342003 dog because I have never met her NOR did she come from any of my breedings. What I do know is Max is VERY consistent in his production. My several breedings with him and several from Koos and the consistency is very much the same- intense drives, good natural aggression and solid nerves. Max is one of the most impressive dogs I've met. Very very stable YET a beast on the field.  Naturally anyone with raisin's sense knows that every pup from every litter will not be a working candidate.

Without seeing the pup, knowing it's exposure (imprinting) it would be hard to try to play "Dr Phil" here and diagnose what this pup's issue is via chat chat forum.

Taking the pup to as many places and environments as possible and good human interaction at an early age is important for pups early in development. Continue to take her as many places as you can and time will tell if this is a phase she is going thru or something else.

Good to see you see positive signs of a turn around. Perhaps she may be a nice cookie cutter Max Tiekerhook pup after all (grins)

Even though the Tiekerhook is way back in your pedigree, not knowing what the rest is,,,,they are ball and prey crazy,,,take no " as yes, and want your undivided attention.....at all times....all they want to do is work , play, work or play ,,,,,,never rest....but they are smart and mine, being a grandson of Orthos ,and having the son Gator of orthos,,,a great aprehension Police K-9, they are very hard headed.....if the pu door is not open when Gator thought it was time to leave the police dept or go somewhere and you didnt open the door,   thru it he flew....and so many quick recoveries, and quick retrieve and quick recalls.....they are great to see work....

ts34?????:  Are you keeping this pup?   Kreiger   did you both get your pups from the same person?I ask before where did he get his pup and Brittany posted that you havae a litter mate....

I saw the ad also for the pup for sale , then saw Debby for sale and I know that Lorenzo breeds out of Max  and Debbie ,so I  wondered if Lorenzo at Houserhaus is where this pup came from>?

4pacK;  I sold my Crissy girl , my webmasters dog, who was already in schutz with Ledda, to a former helper in Dallas clubs and she is doing an amazing recovery of her training....she is bonding with him,,,she will be 2 in Nov., and he worked her off leash and I was astounded at what she had retained since Micheal died...she tested me every day.....she would geblaut when she wasnt suppose to,,,and would bark her head off to gt me to let her out...and she didnt just  bark   she screamed.....with her bark......

she also started the avoidance of being put up...."not me"  " Im not going to stop my play."..and grab the toy and no food,no toy no anything, could bring her in,,,when she knew you were putting her inside or up.....in kennel.....Tom took about 8 minutes to get her back to him with a kong and them slipped the noose over her head.

His number one priority of not only bonding now is,,,,work on the Heia'  Heya'    I forgot how to spell it......come in english......she runs like a deer also,,,,,4 pak....yes keep him with you.....they demand it...and he will work for you ,,,,,like a shark......on target all the time   they never miss a step once they learn it........

YellowRose - Debby is owned by a guy in Lousiana. I posted his breeding on my site so no it was not a breeding done by me. I had the pedigree info on there hence why ts342003 posted the link.  Kreiger pup is from the same person/same breeding.

Here is four small videos of the Max Tiekerhook/Debby Ritterstrasse female pup sent to Kevin (ts342003) The videos were shot two days before Kevin received her. I was told she did not have any drives. Not!!!!!!!!!!!!! Extreme drives is what she has. When she left here she was full of drive and biting everything with full mouth grips. The way he described her in his for sale ad is what I remember of her.
