Someone already said it but he might get diarhea. Try oil of clove for the toothache.

If he's like mine he probably never went after the soap before because he never noticed the soap before!

Sorry about the tooth. I'd rather stick my head in a blender than have a toothache. No pain like it. Hope it's better soon.

He will probably get the runs bad so keed the paper towels and Oxy Clean handy.  For the toothack try rinsing out your mouth with hydrogen peroxide until you can get to the dentist.  It will help with the any infection.

He just afforded himself a good clean out....be prepared for the diahrea    give a flagyll, one in morning and one in evening for two or three days...he'll be fine.....250 mg    metrodiazole...

German shepherds have a high desire to sample all kinds of things....some desireable and some gross.......I THINK I WOULD KENNEL HIM OR PUT HIM ON THE PATIO FOR THE NEXT DAY OR SO ,,ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE SICK AND BENDING OVER TO CLEAN THE MESS WILL ONLY HURT YOUR HEAD..

I'VE ALWAYS USED ORAJEL   BUT SOMEONE SAID ITS NOT GOOD....DIDNT MATTER TO ME   NOT GOOD FOR GUMS ,,MY HURT DIDNT CARE IF IT WAS NO GOOD FOR GUMS...

NOTHING YOU PUT IN BODY FOR PAIN IS GOOD FOR THE LIVER OR PANCREAS   SO JUST STOP THE PAIN...WORRY ABOUT THE REST LATER....TAKE SOME YOGURT OR PROBIOTICS  NEXT WEEK...

HOPE YOU FEEL BETTER AFTER THE DENTIST.....OOOOUUUUUUCCCCCHHHH....

Tasha once ate a brand new bar of Pear's soap, without any ill effects at all, except for me being VERY pissed off at her. Soap is made mostly from fat and glycerine, both natural substances.

When my husband was alive, he always bated with Irish Spring. She loved to lick the soap off his chest and arm hair, so every moring, they hiad this little ritual. He'd soap his chest hair really well, scrape the suds off and put them on the edge of the tub, and she would lick them up! Never hurt her, and she lived to be 14 years old. We told our vet about it, and he had a really good laugh,  said he'd never heard of a dog doing that before, and that it probably wouldn't hurt her one bit.

Situation here today: I should have known better than to put 5 40 lb. bags of topsoil on the patio, then turn the dogs out unsupervised. What a MESS! All 5 bags have now been ripped open. One was hauled off the pile and the contents scattered around the patio. I would have liked to have caught the culprit in the act. I checked teeth when they came in, but both dogs had clean mouths, with no plastic or dirt to give them away!

pietown,

what a stomach on that dog!!!  And what a pocketbook you must have!  lol

The worst mine has eaten was a chicken leg bone (cooked) swallowed whole by a 10 wk puppy.  No, the bone wasn't meant for her; it was going to the trash and she snatched it.  Before I could get it from her, she swallowed the darned thing whole.  Scared me to death.  10 wk old puppy swallowing an entire chicken leg bone whole.  I called the vet immediately and in his 30yrs he'd only had one other instance like that, also a gsd puppy about the same age.  The pup ended up throwing it up later and chewing it up and swallowing it.

The worst mine do at this point is dig big craters in the yard (trying to get the moles!) and leave nasty little (well, not so little) piles in the yard (appropriately placed of course..) .  Hubby hates these things.  I'm always defending these dogs.  You should see me running around the yard before he gets home looking for anything amiss, especially if it's before he has to mow.  I've filled two holes this week and reseeded.

Dogs...ya gotta love 'em!

Libby pnce ate a light bulb right out of a lamp.  Whatever possessed her to knock the lamp over and then bite the bulb I don't know.   She had some cuts around her mouth, but nothing serious happened.

Sorry about your tooth.  That kind of pain is horrible.  Good luck at the Dentist.

Perhaps he was swearing in doggie language and was into self punishment LOL.  I ate PLENTY of soap when I was a kid  and it did me no harm.

If your infection is bad enough to cause swelling in your face, you have an absess.  Will need antibiotics before they can work on the tooth usually.  Will drill it and let the infection drain while anitbiotics do their job.  Look forward to at least 3 to 4 trips to the Dentist.  Been there, done that, didn't want the T-shirt .  The only pain that even comes close is childbirth and kidney stones.  Hope you're feeling better soon.

My almost 6 year old male will occassionally snag a remote too.  So always have to make sure they are out of reach when we are not not.  That and he's chewed two electric razors and several disposable ones.  Why, I don't know, but not a good habit.  So, the bathroom door is now closed!
