Thanks Blitzen, I know he's here in my heart, I feel him every day. I just still can't believe I can't throw my arms around him big neck and feel him hug me back, I loved him soooo much. Not to diminish my relationship with Drake, it's great and he's growing so fast. He really is a good boy, but I still miss Link so bad, been on a crying jag the last couple of days... I know you know exactly how it feels. Thanks for the comforting words.

Kellbme4, Cherish every moment you have with your baby, you're very lucky to have had 14 years. You just never know what is in store so always give that one extra hug. 20 years wouldn't be enough.

Honey, I sure do know how it feels. Many times I thought this old heart would just break into a million tiny pieces.
Is that Link on the photo? He looks enough like Dylan to be his littermate.

Yes, that's Link, I actually scanned it from a photo but it's a really good pic of him. It was taken early last summer just after he turned a year. That attention he's giving me was always there, just waiting for whatever I wanted to do. Wasn't he a beauty?

Kellbeme4,
Thanks for sharing. I lost Zor Oct 2006..hip dysplasia. Only9 years. It broke my heart. I had my son weeks before his death.

Blitzen, I've heard from more than one person that the coated dogs have a more of an even temperment. I know they're less than desirable confirmation-wise but I'd take another in a heartbeat. Everyone on this board who has had one seems to have had a special bond. I'd love to see a pic of Dylan.

really beautiful poem; i immediately teared up. hopefully, it will be many years before i have to address it.
sparrow - so sorry about link - he was really beautiful. i have a coated gsd too and i would absolutely have another (some far day in the future). i think there's enough anecdotal evidence to show the long coats are milder temperments to believe it. mine certainly is a sweetheart.
and desi209 - very sorry about zor. my gsd has hd (very mild) and that is my #1 worry with him.
