You may try a harness on him.  that seems to help let them understand they can pull versus in a collar, even the wide collars.   I don't know this paticular seller but we did get ours off of ebay, Amish made.

Naya's Mom - gonna go for Schutzhund titles with my boy, he really got into it once he figured out I wasn't out of my mind

Animules - I asked about a harness and the trainer said to wait a couple of more sessions, thanks for the link though because I have been looking at them - any advice or any favorites?

Thank you both, I truly am happy that he's so happy - he's been so full of himself since we got home!  Now when I show him his collar he really gets excited!  I have some homework to do too, gotta go buy a couple hundred hotdogs!

As for my pup Lilly, I'm happy to be starting her out in the sport at a young age and looking forward to working her in Schutzhund too.  She watched everything so intently and got so excited when he came and got her for "her turn" - she has good prey drive and good bites (I've been working on those).

I am still highly interested in service work and have placed a pup with a SAR/service dog - drugs & body recovery- trainer within 3 hours drive and am working on getting hooked up with the right people to train with.  I would like to work my girl Chloe in the service area, but will find out what she's really good at first.  I do know one thing though - they all need jobs!  Preferrably paying ones...LOL...

One other good bit of news, am planning on attending Nov 21 Ivan 3 day seminar - cannot wait...gonna be great!

Gotta take 5 and go make hubby some criss-crossed peanut butter cookies.

Thank you all for being so kind and helpful all the time!

I like the style shown in the link.  It stays down off of their neck so doesn't shorten their breath when they pull.  We have one for each dog so we don't have to keep readjusting each time.  You may need to add some holes to fine tune the fitting, or not......  The handle on the back comes in very handy at times during training.    Glad to hear things are going so well with your "kids".

We're signed up for Ivan's seminar the end of October in Olympia.  I know how you feel, it's gonna be great.

That's really good, it's always fun to move two steps forward instead of backward!

Your Lilly looks like my Tessie, she is 7 months and she loves bite work,
we go on monday nights!

I can only hope my Lilly will look as good as your Tessie at 7 months!  She is beautiful!  Have you decided on a name for your pup yet?

The dogs here are all beautiful, but the five week old pup is a knockout!

by clewsk9s on 24 September 2007 - 02:09

Thanks MVF, she's my keeper !

She weighed 29.5 pounds at her 14 week checkup and has really gotten long & tall over the past 2 weeks, growing like a weed.  Feeding her excellent kibbles & RAW, but her go-go-go personality keeps her trim, vets happy with her build, weight and vitality, so far excellent temperment and rock solid nerves, brave and venturesome - keeping me on my TOES! Working on getting all ducks in row for parents titles, etc (was behind the 8 ball for past 18 months a bit (a lot )) and I guess that's why I'm overly excited (and overly nervous) about our local club meetings. But now am ready to go for it with them. I know they can do it now and that feels really good.  Keep us in your prayers, we will covet them dearly.

I truly do want to thank all of you who have encouraged me, it really means alot to me

Animules, we'll have to chat about the seminar after we each attend, I've been watching Iva for over a year now thru news, etc and am seriously convinced that I will be getting 10 fold my money's worth.

I looked at the harness, I like it, especially the lambs wool - I am such a woos mommy with him - any advice on how to not be?  He gives me those "looks" all the time and always exaggerates his boo-boo's.  First time I tried to clip his nails (outside on the front porch) he howled so loud neighbors came running - thought I was killing him.  I was in tears I was laughing at him so hard.  So the less discomfort he feels, the harder he'll work - I'm sure of that.

DUH - I hate making spelling mistakes - more like keystroke mistakes!  I did not really call Ivan "Iva",
