That's not a small brag for a 7 month old, that's HUGE!  Talks about distraction training.  Good Job!!

That's a really nice trait to have in a pup, it makes training all the more easier!

A couple of years ago, it was on Thanksgiving morning, I was going to celebrate the
holiday at someone elses home, so I piled all my dogs in my pick up truck to go for
a swim at the beach,in the morning to tire them out.   We were experiencing a very warm November day.
Any way, it's just down the road a couple of miles.   I have a cap on my truck,
and everyone was loose in the back, when I stopped at the first red light, I heard
a strange thump, like I ran something over, when the light changed I pulled my truck over.
I looked under it and up & down the street, and also checked the back where you open the cap.
Didn't see anything.    I continued along, got to the reservation, pulled down the boat ramp ,
let everyone jump out to swim, all of a sudden I noticed Sam was not with us anymore,
I told all the dogs to jump back in the truck, they did, and I drove back toward the entrance,

Who did I see but Sam with her nose to the ground!  You have to take a right turn into
the reservation, and she knew to do that, I can only guess she was sniffing where the tires
meet the road, it was so cool, I'm also grateful it was a holiday, and there was no traffic
coming to the beach.

That's wonderful, Dawgs! Sounds like he's definitely the right dog for what you're planning to do (SAR)!

Who is the breeder, might I ask? He sounds like a man after my own heart!  I, too, find it terribly discouraging to see the GSD split into so many different gene pools, (which is why my own pup is a cross between two of the best American and German showlines.)

That's SO awesome! Brag was well deserved, & I for one love to hear them! Sounds to me like you'll have a lot of fun with this pup, 'cause when they do their thing naturally, training is nothing but fun! ( how it should be ) jo

Thanks, guys. I feel really lucky to have him. Now if I could just get him to quit killing underwear and dragging it back to his den behind the couch.

That is a great accomplishment and I am very proud for you.  I love the underwear story--I once had a girl that loved bras and loved to take them outdoors!!!!  So I know what you mean about denning with underwear.
