as so many have said already, it depends on the dogs build and bone.  i have a 2 1/2 yr male that is on the fine bone side, weighs about 65-70 lbs.   also have a male at 19 months, better bone and a little taller,  around 65 lbs.

i like to see the outline of the dogs ribcage, but not able to actually count ribs.  should be able to feel individual ribs when rubbed.

Shepherd woman:   your dog is   66cm as measured by the sv for judging....I believe Louise Pen  described     65 cm, is the cut off for the medium dog....classification......Over that is big    and then they go to   Large.....

To me, "medium" is ~63-64 cm. Since 65 cm is the upper limit of the standard, by definition, a 65 cm dog is "large".

67 cm is definitely "oversized".

This was Louise Penery's script on the legality of the decision of placement of V dogs now being reduced and previous placed dogs have been given notice will not be placed      if over 65cm.....

My male is 80 pounds soaking wet, he's very very lean and can/will drop weight quite quickly if say he decides to starve himself when my bitch is in season.  :)  Right now we are working on getting him back up to 80.  He's so lean and trim that he would still look good with another 10 pounds on him.  Not that that is ever gonna happen either.  He's pretty much been allowed to eat as much as he wants his whole life!  I have to pull out his survey papers to see how tall he was, I think that it was 64 or maybe 65, critique said above medium sized I think.

My two females are 55 and 63 or so.  Though the 63 pounder really looks better at 60, time for that food cut back again!   The 55 pounder is very very lean too.  Nimble little thing.

I started feeding my boy Theo more to beef him out, he weighed 71 pounds & I could see his ribs,
I then after a few days of good eating, he looked like he gained some weigh & his ribs weren't showing
as much.    I stopped in the vets and weighed him........69 pounds.......

Anyway, he'll be two years on the 28th, and gets lot of exercise, so I'm not worried, his half sister & mom are 78 pounds,
consistantly.

My male "Hani" is 75-80 give or take at the age of 2.5yr.  Most people say he is about a 100 pounds due to the structure and guessing. When I told the breeder how much he weighed she said " he is a runt due to his brothers are over 100" But he is very fit and lean.

Shepherd woman if I remember correctly you show (UKC) and the judges do like them a little fat - that is what they are used to seeing. So before show time I usaully put on a couple extra pounds for show (Satin balls work wonders!) and then after wards take them off. ( now please note I said a couple not 10 or 20 pounds just enough to take the ribby/ too skinny/ under feeed by most people  look away)

Because I have too been told at ringside that my dogs look underweight blah blah blah by judges and other handlers. They are not used to seeing working dogs.
