You must have also got a canine good citizen (CGC) with that,
throw that in to, that's a big acheivement for a dog with such a
strong working line, it just goes to show Shepherd's are a versatile breed!

Next you have to do your  American Temperament Test Society--------Test

It's alot of fun, and you're just out for a walk with your dog.

Actually Mirasmom, Nope, You in fact do NOT need a CGC through Therapy Dogs Inc. You do through Therapy Dogs International. Two very different organizations.

As for other tests, we'll see, she's only a year old, so we have our time!

Anyone in the lower central Michigan area, I received my TDInc. Cert through Dr. Paws. their website is drpaws.org

Congratulations, it's wonderful, especially considering  you and your dog have accomplished this on your own.  Thank you for helping to bust the myth about our working dogs being too hot to handle in a social environment.

You know, one day you may want to look into schutzhund.  It's a ton of fun and you have already proven you have what it takes to get out there & "get'er done".

Welcome to the working line!    But No... what you say is not true its your misinterpretation and lack of experience being around working line dogs. You must be new to them. Many working line dogs have an off switch....Working line doesn't mean 'always in over drive and edgy".  Some working dogs are machines and some show dogs urinate themsleves over a car door slamming. Those are the extremes...Your dog walks around in a senior citizens home and is friendly to the patients?? Why shouldn't he be? In fact, i would use working line dogs as opposed to show dogs because of thier usual soundness and stronger nerves. Great that your helping the patients with your dog, I'm not belittling your efforts. But this is no rare achievement, most should be able to do this and easliy can. I have a police dog I train with 34 live bites in 3 years and he has a Canine good citizen and lives with 3 young girls... He deserves acknowledgement!

EGSD,

No, I am not new to either GSD's or Workingline GSD's. I was talking about new comers who have the mis-informed idea that workingline means only that, not that they can be a child's best friend or a therapy dog.

I am in fact, insulted. Not only have you felt you had to "outshine" myself, and Naya, but you assume instead of asking if I was new to this. This IS an accomplishment, and I do NOT see ALL workinglines having such certs.

Thank you, for your "contribution", please, next time someone is proud of their year old dog of pure workinglines being a Therapy dog, don't do what you just did to Naya and I, most are not that rude.

Yes, your dog deserves recognition, but trying to steal someone's thunder is NOT the time, nor place to do so.

You obviously are new if your so shocked by her stable temperment it should be expected and rather common. The dog I spoke of is not mine nor did i breed him.....I trained him is all. I think you desreve recognition for your charity work... not your dog!

Egsd,

I'll ask, politely again, please, stop. If you want to make another post, about TDI is a weak title that anyone or their brother can earn, the by all means, go ahead. Stop ruining my thread. Naya and I do not deserve this.

Please, for the last time, stop. I am not new, and do not like being treated as such. Again, my last plea, stop. I was neither shocked nor amazed at her stability, I was shocked at her intution. Yes, I know of the switch, and can easily turn it on and off in our bite work.

Please, stop treating me as an idiot, and stop ruining this thread.

Number of pleases I just used: 3

I'm being polite here, please, leave it be, and post another thread if you so desire. I thank you in advance

Your scaring me....relax.....It is the truth....I made my point that is all i was intending.... Thanks again for your charitable acts...your to be commended and I'm being sincere... the patients love it..I've done it!
