In July my dogs started turning their noses up at Canidae as well (All Life Stage Lamb & Rice). I thought it was odd. We switched back Royal Canin.

Has anyone else's dogs started licking and chewing on more things on Canidae?

I've been feeding Canidae now for about a year and only within the last few months, three of my dogs have taken up nasty habits of eating fur (if I don't vacuum quick enough) and chewing on cloth.  I don't know if this is due to a fiber defeciency or maybe their meals aren't as filling with Canidae.

Also of note:  Occassionally one will have loose stool for one time out of the blue, then a week later another might.  For the most part the coats are great... except one is constantly shedding.

I will be looking into other alternatives... too bad most have (meat)-by-products or corn that are within my budget.

Well this pisses me off.  My dogs eat this and my girl is pregnant.  I don't have the original bag that she's eating now because I have an airtight container that I transfer it into.  Now I need to throw it out and make a 60 mile round trip to the pet store.  GRRRRR when is it gonna end.

another thing to look at, I was told by someone that had talked to a canidae rep (so third hand info here) that you should not transfer the food into another container without lining it and changing the liner every time you switch bags. Apparently the oil on the food stays in the container, and rots...then you pour more food in it which of course can create bacteria and other problems. So make sure that with any food that you line the container you put the food in if you don't leave it in the original bag.... I'm feeding 4 of my dogs canidae all life stages too...yikes!

Interesting.......I have been feeding Canidae All  STages for about 6 years, adults and pups, and to date I have not experienced any negative side effects, actually, my dogs are in top condition...Maybe it was a bad batch or something......

Had been feeding my dogs Canidae and raw for a while. Did not do well at all on the Canidae. Went to Merricks and they now are doing much better, better coat, etc. Of course, they are also fed raw. What's up with all these foods being tainted with one thing or another?

I have used Canidae for five years, about two months ago I noticed sloppy stool and my males coat looked bad and he had dry skin. I also noticed that they seem to crap twice as much as they used to.

Switched to royal canin 24 last night. Hope to see some improvement.

I will also add that I have noticed more chewing, especially pillows and other odd things as well. Stuff like electrical cords, and assorted electronics which he never bothered with before as a young puppy. I thought maybe he was going through some developmental stage or something where he forgot everything he used to know.

Also, his coat appears healthy and shiny. I think I will also be investing in that furminatior tool, soon!

Thanks Birdy for posting.

My dogs have stopped eating Innova, and I was wondering why.

i tried to post this before along with some quotes from the article and it was too long......got deleted.  argh!

i am holding out for results from a validated test.  this whole thing sounds very fishy to me.  sample arrives in a

zip lock bag?????  cannot be positively identified as canidae, yet they spread this info all over the media????

other companies were tested and found positive, yet they cannot identify them because of confidentiality?????

what's with that????  too many holes in this story.  i'm waiting to hear the bottom line.
