From the audio, they seem to be doing other training exercises in the background.  Partway thru the video, someone hands him his gun.  GARD is right.  This dog is fired up about something and the trainer and the guy handling the dog do not seem to know how to channel this and so look as though they decide to do as I think it was Brittany said and put him in a submissive position.

It looks as though whatever got this dog going is still within the area and is what he is reacting to.  I don't see it that the dog was being handler aggressive at all.  I see a dog that is intent on whatever it is that he's trying to get to and the handler is unable to "as GARD put it" get a cap on it.

Just my 2.

And, I don't believe I'd trust this guy again if I was the dog.

First we don't know the history of this dog nor of the police officier. If you notice at the start of the video the dog grabbed his arm for a second which started the first submission. I see nothing wrong with the actions of the officier and wonder who let the dog this get out of control. He was not hurting the dog and in fact it did not seem to submit at all but was ready to go again the second it got up.

It appears later in the video another officier was trying to approach and the dog was going after everyone so that was part of the reason for this.

My real concern is who let this dog get so far out of control?

gard, got to completly agree with you on everything. i will though say plenty of negative things about law enforcment.  the video is complet bs. it is not dog training. 99.1% of K-9 handlers don't know there ass form a hole in the ground when it comes to training. they meet in very small groups with "master trainers" that are certified by some BS organization "napwada" (or something like that) that have no clue about dog training. the thing that irritates me so much is the fact that to the uneducated person they could mistake or generalize this type of so called training for sch training. animal right activist will have a feild day with this shit. if this stuff keeps coming up none of us will be able to train dogs in dog sports.

if you are one of these people that think the video had any form of productive dog training, then you are so lost when it come to dog training.

workingdawg..you have no clue what you are talking about just rattling off some bs.  That dog is totally out of control and unless they are able to gain control it will most likely be put down as in DEAD.

That would be a shame if that happens as it could be one nice working dag.

also, i am not saying this guy is a good trainer or not but regardless he has his hands full. this dog is going to bite an innocent unless they can get him under controlled.  sorry for previous remarks

This is sad. I did not see the dog being handler aggressive but rather in too high drive for that guy to handle under the circumstances. If the dog was handler aggressive he would have really had about a dozen chances to go after him. Instead he stayed focused on the person outside the video. To me this is curelty but probably not by the particular handler but the idiot that trained the dog, who is obviously not ready to be in the situation he is in. And that may be that he may not be with the right handler. I am talking that moment, with that handler, at that point with whatever is asked of him. That dog has no regard for his handler as he is not even thinking about him but so focused on the bite (or whatever it is outside the frame) that this does not even make any sense. To me that dog need further training and the handler needs good help rather than the damn old stare him in the eyes and make him fear for his live stuff. After he is more advanced and knows better that may have to be done once or twice but at this point, it does not look to me like it is working at all. Just my 2cents worth.

Shandra---You are on track with the right mindset.

Workingdog---There is some good police k9 trainers out there. It is getting better. Alot of them have a hard time with budgets and lack of good available training. Some just don't know any better and some are just asses.

One thing I can tell you is doing what that officer and trainer are doing, will never get that dog under control. It will get one of them bit when that dog gets tired of it. I was actually quite impressed that dog took that shit as well as he did. Most Malinios would not have.
