Just some things that I would like to point out about the video for those of you with dial up. The Pit Bull fit UKC standards. Maximum MALE weight of 60 lb. is aloud. Max. MALE height 21 in. This dog was obviously smaller. The Pit grab the sleeve with front of its mouth on the first bite, this is something that took my Pits a long time to get over. The second bite was a full grip. I don't know the standards of a Rottie, but this one was at least twice the size of the Pit Bull. Do right, I think the reason they choose these breeds is because they are usual the first to make headlines. On another thread someone was saying they saw an ad for Pits that had 3300 psi. Very embarrassing to use true Pit lovers. Those are the kind of people that should even own a goldfish.

Oh hey I saw that on TV.  After the dogs they showed a hyena, lion & some other animal I can't recall.  If I remember correctly, the hyena had the hardest bite with something like 3000psi.

i have to agree with djc about individual dog. we have a 55lb female in our club that bites extremely hard. we also have a male that compresses the frabo trial sleve. bite pressure has almost nothing to do with breed and everything to do with the individual dog.

Maybe the Pit breeder is cover for Hyena imports. LOL

How many of you really think that one specimen out of each breed acurately describes the biting force of the whole breed? Not me.

I don't believe that is what it was intended to do.

Yep, agree too.  Different sex, fitness, musculature, training... all influence bite.  You would need a large sample from various breeds to obtain any meaningful PSI comparisons.

And the locking... djc is right here too.  Not a mechanical locking but a behavioural one.  Experienced owners of Bullbreeds often keep breaking sticks, just in case a fight should occur.

http://www.tekscan.com/flexiforce/pricing.html Here is a link for the equipment used. If it is really that important to you. As for breaking stick, more BS. When my Pits get into it, at least twice a year, all I need to do is yell. If you don't have that kind of control over your dog you shouldn't have one.

I myself doubt this was a very scientific experiment.
