 AJ,

I would not want to be presumptuous and call someone I don't know out of the blue. When I have talked to some breeders, they want to sell me a puppy. I would not want to waste someone's time when I am not in the market for a puppy.

Since you gave me the invitation, I will try to give you a call.

Thanks

GARD

I know a few people that have bought pups from Ajay.  They are all very pleased.  Not just because he breeds an excellent dog, but because he is always there for them.  He was there for them before, during and after their purchase.  He is very knowledgeable about these lines.  I know you know this, otherwise you wouldn't have asked for his advice.  Funny!  Ask for the devil and the devil appears.  Ajay was one of the first people I thought of when I saw this topic.  Hell, one of the people I know that bought from Ajay, had spent probably two years talking his ear off on the phone before he bought.  Ajay is one of those breeders that is in it for all the right reasons and doesn't mind answering our questions.

Ajay

Please send the $20 to the same place as the last.  Just kidding!

Hi Don:

I need to hireyou as my promoter, LOL.  Get a Real Dog, I have nothing for sale, so don't worry about me making a sales pitch.  I am not the only experienced breeder on the site, there are many others as well, and there were many more before, who got dicouraged by the name calling.  I wish some of those people return to this site, and we can have more meaningful discussions about dogs.  I just wanted to add to my previous message that Jago, Crok, and Lewis  were not the only good Mink sons, there were others as well.  Jago's brother Jalk was very good, Iko von der Lindenhalle was good, Arko Parkstrasse was good, and Ed Frawley's dog, Otis was good.  Justin vom Pendelback is  here in America now, and he is linebred on Mink.  Keep in mind that most of the times we will see Mink in third or fourth generation now.  From a breeding standpoint the dogs closer to the puppy are more influential than the dogs separated by generations.  Therefore, it is important that you pay more attention to the parents and grand parents.  It is also important that the geno and the phenotype of the puppy is similar to the dog that you are trying to get to, if the puppy is separated from the target dog by a few generations.  Even with all this guesswork, it is important to learn how to train dogs and have fun doing it as well.

Get a real dog,  is your pup's pedigree on line?  I am curious.  I have a Citty Haus Ming daughter.  Citty was out of Jago's littermate Jenni and by Iko Lindenhalle so linebred on Mink 2-2.

I also have a Crok granddaughter and owned an Arko Parkstraße daughter.

I have a Jalk Lindenhalle granddaughter through the sire's side.  She is very handler sensitive, and will shut down from a small correction.  Low prey, *very* defensive and can't be touched by anyone outside her immediate family, and her nerves are not great..  Her hunt drive is high.  She is an extremely smart dog, knows how to open doors (and actually turn the door handles to open them), climbs fences, escape from crates, etc.  If anyone wants to look her up on this site her name is Cassandra vom Seeblick.  From what I've heard both of her parents have produced very nicely themselves - but I guess the 2 parents crossed must have not been the best combination.

phgsd, may I ask if there was any sign of this temperament as a pup? I'm sure there were, to a person able to read a dog. She may have been a fluke in that litter and the rest could have turned out fine. Have you talked to the breeder or people owning siblings?

Yes, there were signs.  She was my first GSD and I was very inexperienced.  Looking back I would not have taken her,  I took the word of the guy who was selling her to us (not the breeder  - a guy who bought the pup and others to resell).  He said she'd be a good schutzhund dog and a good family dog and we believed him.  Not that she's not a good family dog - but I'd like to be able to have visitors without having to put her away because she'd bite them.

I did speak to someone with a littermate, but it was several years ago.  Basically he said he'd spoken to the breeder, and someone with another littermate, and the litter just was not up to the breeder's expectations.
