Is she spayed?

Shelley Strohl

Why you would want a 100 lb. female GSD with a head like a male is beyond me. Are you fond of structural problems, dogs with limited agility, pre-disposed towards health problems early in life, short life expectancy? A female is supposed to look like a female with no more than a half-second glance at her face. Do you find women with maculine faces attractive too? Beards maybe?

There is a REASON for the SV standard.  Breed away from that standard = ask for trouble, IMO.

Sure... everyone has a story of a 100 lb.+ GSD that was perfectly healthy and lived to be 15 yrs. old. I'm betting most of them never stepped on a scale, or were grossly obese, the beauty in the eye of the beholder and greatly enhanced with each year since the dog  passed. (We're all guilty of that...) My very first litter, 5 pups, all matured to be over 26" at the withers and 95 lbs+, two of the males were closer to 29" and 115 lbs., NOT overweight, despite their entire family being within the breed standard all the way back in the pedigree.  Not one made it to age 7.  2 bloated, two had an extra vertebrae which herniated by age three, (corrective disk-fusion surgery only marginally successful, recovery never really achieved pain-free status) and one we'll never know about because she was killed in an auto accident at age 7.

Give me a medium to upper-medium size dog any day. No more horses in GSD suits!

Amen, sister!

Thank you for the colorful responses!   I had three GSDs in the past that were all at least 90 lbs.  The male and female both lived to age 13 with no health problems until the very end stages of their lives.  The other one was 7 when she died, and that was of lung cancer.  I guess I've just been lucky.  None of these dogs were overweight, just very, very stocky and tall.  And masculine appearing females are just my preference in GSDs.  Not in humans either - I prefer a masculine looking MAN, thank you very much!  LOL.  Could care less about what a woman looks like, as I'm as straight as they come.

No, my girl is not spayed.  That is another point I forgot to bring up. The breeder knew I was buying her with the possibility of breeding her in the future.  But with this kind of temperament, I won't even consider it.   I do feel as if I am pack leader, as she responds lightning quick to any commands I give her, will lay on her back and expose her belly for me in an instant, has her ears back, and licks submissively, but without fear.  She has never growled at me or my husband, and you can put your hand in her food dish or take it away, and she accepts it with a wagging tail.  She is super sweet once she knows someone, but SHE has to approach THEM in her own time, not the other way around.    My dogs have never been allowed to call the shots - I'm pretty strict in that way.  I guess I'm just really floored because the GSDs I've had before acted like a completely different breed than this dog.  She acts more like a little wolf or coyote than a domestic dog, IMO.  She's bullheaded on in certain ways, whereas my others rarely showed any type of resistance.

Anyway, I was wondering if it would be wise to mention this breeder's name and kennel name on this site, as a warning to others.  I wouldn't want someone else to go through what I am experiencing.  The deception about the temperament is the biggie here. To me, that type of deception is unforgiveable.

SeaEcho!

You are a fraud!  How dare you send a picture of my very good friends dog!   The dog you sent me a picture of is a dog that belongs to a personal friend of mine!  You are sooooo full of SHIT!  The bitch you sent a picture of is a AD, SchH3, FH bitch and has had one litter of puppies all accomplished before the age of 4 years!

So if anyone contacted this fraud via Private Email and you got a picture of the following dog

This is Faika and she is AWESOME!  She is also located in Germany and is for sale!  No temperament issues here!  I would have her in a heartbeat!  If you want to check the truth to this you can contact Heimat Kennels!

"This dog is also very independent - will run out of our gate if you don't grab onto her, then won't come back.  Very hard headed. Also, if she has something in her mouth, you have to chase her to retrieve it."

                    ....yet.........

"I do feel as if I am pack leader, as she responds lightning quick to any commands I give her, .."

Allabout,

I went back and read some of the other posts by Seaecho and it is very apparent that she is extremely novice and ignorant(not knowing)!

Dennis,

Yes, yes they do!  I was just stunned with SeaEcho emailed me a picture of his/her dog and it was my friends dog!  Just cut and coppied the picture right off his website!  The reason I put the "not knowing" in ()'s was to make sure of the meaning of ignorant was understood correctly!

Just to clarify Seaecho does not own the dog in the picture above. That particular bitch is a completely finished dog in her titles and has had one litter already. He/she may own a black bitch but not that one.

As for Seaecho don't sent folks pictures of dogs that you do not own.
