Yep. do some online research and you'll be shocked at what most dog foods contain. Fillers, by products. Unmentionables are very possible too. Canidae has NO fillers and NO by products. Others you might consider are Wellness, Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover's Soul, Eagle Brand, Blue Buffalo, etc. There are no regulations on by products and fillers, so you can only imagine (and some things you CAN'T imagine) that are being put into your dog's food. Make an informed decision! If you lived on donuts and candy bars, how could you expect to be healthy? Sooner or later it'll catch up to you. Exactly the same goes for dogs. As far as dog food goes, as with most other things in life, you get what you pay for.

Neither. I have bee feeding Canidae to my adults for about three months. Not crazy about coat condition, (dull, lack-luster) and really unhappy with loose stools. They seem to crap out more than I feed them, loose and mushy. My pups are on Eukanuba Sporting or Active. In 20 yrs. I never had a problem with it, (except for the cost going up every five minutes) but I was trying to get away from grains/glutens after the dogfood recalls. Thus far I am disappointed in most of the dogs' condition with the Canidae. They are parasite free, not unusually stressed, so it has to be the dogfood.
Too bad. Canidae is only $33. for 40# as opposed to $40-45. for Euk.
Sigh.

BTW: I wouldn't feed any Purina product to any animal I own.
Junk, junk, junk. May as well feed them the bag.

hi,
I feed both plenty long to see results, not so sure if I should comment on Canidae because they are sponsoring our message board with the ad. I used to like pro plan when it first came on the market, the purple bag was the best, that was some 15 years ago or so, the food eventually got worse and worse, switched to the pro plan barley which was no better, till I finally gave up on that food.
The Canidae nearly made me drown in poop, wash down, wash down how much poop can a dog **it? Also the stools was to soft and sticky, reading the ingredience makes you think the food is of quality. Thumbs down on both.

Kinda weird people have trouble with Canidae. I have fed the Chicken 'n Rice formular without any trouble for awhile. I feed mostly RAW and have recently bought Orijen (dogs like it) but it was mostly to try an upgrade (I use it for traveling or when lazy). I had no complaints on Canidae though. I also know a few other people who feed it and like it. The pet food store I buy it from said she sells an easy 50 bags of the ALS a week, some some dogs must do OK. RAW is best, poop is small, doesn't smell hardly at all, dries up and goes away quick!
