HaJaDa,
Please share any other info you find on Amigo. I read somewhere that he had elbow surgery to correct a problem, this is probably just a bad rumour.
Don't forget Eick's motherline.... Forma Karthago was a super producing bitch

DannyJ,
I actually got a Email from someone that new Amigo when he was alive in Germany and what he said to me was pretty eye opening. Apparently Amigo was always a very hard, very dominant dog that had some handler aggresion for whatever reason. He was clear headed, but as I was told, he chewed up his original owner in a VERY bad way, like hospital and stitches bad. In fact, the owner got out of GSD's all together and sold off everything. Not the kind of dog you sign up for a Canine Good Citizen Award or Petting 101 at PetSmart.
Big schocker after that, his owner then sold him off, (I believe to Herbert) and he remained until he was sold off here and lived a short time. Never heard anything about an elbow surgery, but he certainly had a legendary fight drive and passed it on.
Amigo progeny is excellent from what i have seen. I am not sure about handler aggresion, but I would guess there might be some down the line. -Comes with the territory.

Did not hear anything about elbows or any other health issue. if he did have an elbow surgery, it was probably a training injury but I can't say for sure, just a guess.

What Amigo son is most like Amigo.
by HaJaDa on 03 August 2007 - 03:08
Jeff- I totally agree and always look for an over the top dog like Amigo was. I like this as you do, but some would disagree. I am not one of them as I actually seek this out and do some research, see the dog If I can or ask others that have.
The best question I have heard so far is "What Amigo Son is Most Like Amigo"................?
Aerry, Eick, pretty hard to choose from and very possible to get a good dog from either. IMHO, I think Eick is one of the best Stud Dogs in the US. I said ONE OF, NOT the only ONE!!! -I knew someone would jump on that.
I think people should be able to come on to an open forum and discuss the true fact of dogs and how they are, not oohing and ahhing over fuzzy pictures. You can do that anywhere.

Amigo is dead, unfortunely, he was in Texas with Karl West. His brother Aron was a super powerful dog, also. They produced well. I have a daughter out of an Amigo daughter that is extreme. These types of dogs added strength to the GSD breeding. IMO
