Ranger is my first male GSD, and I can't believe the difference in shedding, despite the fact both my females were spayed, therefore only did seasonal shedding!
In the last years of her life, Tasha developed old dog coat. She would shed at odd times (e.g. in the middle of winter) and the volume of non-seasonal shedding increased too. This picture was taken in February of '05, six months before she died. She was coming up to her 14th birthday. I had just done one side of her body. She wasn't thrilled about brushing, so I left the other side for another time!
There's enough hair there to make another whole dog!

I have one kennel that looks like an overstuffed couch exploded in it :)

Is that the dog, or just the hair?? LOL!
Yep, we sure love our German Shedding Dogs!!

Luckily although Agar is shedding like the rest of your dogs right about now I don't notice it a great deal on my carpets since it sorta blends right in. lol I brush him A LOT to help cut down on the hair. Even though I brush him pretty often I still get a crap load of fur to come off, even with using the rake. I'm pretty anal about keeping him looking good though- I love to admire him laying in the yard under his favorite tree looking so darn handsome. I can't wait til the shedding period tapers off a bit though.

And that's why they are known as German Shedders

My husband is always amazed when we watches me groom the dogs on the weekends out in the yard at the horrendous piles of fur left over.
I don't know which is harder, the grooming or cleaning up afterwards! And then, I have crazy dogs that want to eat the fur. What's up with that?
Thank God Apache is thru her major shed and Savage is finally easing up some. Although, Savage looks like she shed too much! I swear, she was almost bald in some areas. I was getting concerned but, it seems to be alright now.
Too bad there's not a market for German Shepherd Hair. I know a lot of people make money off of Alpaca hair....

I have had to brush Naya for a streched out 3 hours a day for the past TWO WEEKS, and yesterday, my father came over, patted her back, pulled back a clump of fur, and said, "My god Krista, you know you have to brush these kind of dogs!" I was so furious, but rather than say something I might regret, I grabbed the shedding blade, flung it at him and said, "Alright then! GET TO IT!"
Naya is my first FULL german shepherd, and I have HORRENDIOUS allergies as it is, and she sleeps in my bedroom, with the door closed, up on my bed, often with her head on my pillow. I went to the Doctors yesterday, and my dr looked at me and asked, "Krista, do you have the flu?" I smiled and said, "No Dr. Deb, I have a German Shepherd!"
FUNNY AND TRUE STORIES RIGHT THERE!

My male blows his coat every summer. My friends who are fly fishermen love to come and take a lot of the tan fur and tie flys with it. I should start make them brush him for the fur.
I had a roomba and I forgot to turn it off at the start of the summer and well the fur killed it.
