we're here for you and yes when you are by yourself,no matter how much you know and how many times you have been through it , it's nice to have people available ,just in case. You're doing fine. So, how many boys and girls so far?

yes, how is it going? Great advice so far. Hopes for you the best.

My female Kally did an x-ray they said 6... she had 10 So be cautious!

Do you have Oxytocin on hand incase she needs a boost near the end or to clean her out completely?

Good luck.!!!! And I think it is exciting when my female has pups. I too hate being alone but we wish you well!!!!!!!!

Well my bitch had her first puppy at 3:45 on Friday afternoon. Finished at 1:30 am.  She went 2 hrs between pups 3 and 4, then I gave her a pit shot at 1:30 am since it had been 3 hrs, she then had the last 2.  My vet says 3 hours pit, then if nothing, get to the vet by 4 hrs.  We have 8 boys, 5 girls.  Talk about a bakers dozen!!!  All are doing well and gaining weight.

I dint care how many litters you have birth with these gsd's ,its always a little bit anxious, if by yourself, as you never know what new thing can happen....Ive always been lucky, and I have two wonderful vets...so if one cant be found the other is there....

congratulations on the pups. i had a chow/husky mix yrs ago who had a litter; exciting and nerve-wracking. sounds like gsds are sometimes a bit tougher to whelp than mutts. good job. i envy you the puppies (i'm going thru a I WANT ANOTHER PUP stage and can't really have one!) again, congrats!

Congrats! take it easy but not too easy! When my girl whelped 6 weeks ago, my girl friend was around and she screamed (due to excitement) every time the puppy pops out. My girl had an easy birth, no hard straining, about 15 minutes between each puppy and after 4th puppies, I thought she should be doing fine just by herself rather than being constantly alarmed by my girl friend's screaming. So off we went for a late dinner around 8pm, when we got back from dinner, she had 3 more, but one of them wasn't breathing, and pale, I tried to resuscitate her, but after half an hour, I had no choice but gave up. Lesson learnt: even if the first few seem easy, never take it for granted for the next few.
