Hi,

I have participated in the courage test for the HGH title here in the U.S.  Basically it used to be a little "agitation" and then a bite on leash.  It has become more of a tradition than anything else.  This didn't affect the dogs score either way.  It was noted as "not present, present, or pronounced."  The dog had to bite the sleeve in order to get the pronounced rating.  However, I believe that now in Germany it has changed, the dogs are just required to bark and not bite the sleeve.  Below is a picture of my dog during the HGH protection test.  That being said, he's also titled in Schutzhund and Breed Surveyed and the Koermeister noted in the additional comments section that he was a "working herding dog"
