I wouldn't touch that buyer with a 10 ft pole.  It frustrates me to see all the rednecks in my area keeping their dogs tied out in the yard, with the grass completely stripped bare in the dog's tiny range of motion.

I don't have a fenced yard myself, but Chaco has a 4x14 run while I'm at work, and then it's inside the house with the family unit.  If I could bring him to work with me I would.

No.  If they can afford a puppy they can afford at least a portable style kennel run, covered.  We do tie ours out when we're at the barn until they learn they can't chase all the various animals.  We've tied ours out when camping and we're right there.  Those are totally different senarios.

Thank you all for answering my question.  It was a hypothetical question.  I was just thinking about the Mattia case/incident and the only thing that really bothered me was that they had this dog tied out and I don't think the house was even lived in.  I have really given some thought to this for quite some time!

I would not sell a dog/pup to someone who I thought would tie it out either.  The Mattia's dog was a victim in more ways than one.

Please do not see this as a bash, it is just something that I have thought about since this case/incident was posted on the board.  I do feel badly for the Mattia's but mostly I feel worse for the poor dog!  I think that the shooting was terrible but death by hanging/strangulation is MUCH MUCH worse, the latter is not always instant and some suffering and gasping for air does happen!

Hell no.  If a buyer can afford or desires a German Shepherd then they can build a fence.  A buyer as described wouldn't even be allowed to RESCUE a GSD from the local rescue
