Hundguy,
would like also to hear your thoughts.
I don't know that there is a right or wrong way. I am right handed and first learned to use my left arm as it seemed more natural. As Jehannum mentioned it allows me to use the stick in my right hand which requires more finesse and feel, where as the left is not as critical to feel. I want complete control when striking a dog. It gives me more balance as most sport activities I catch with left, box with left etc.. I just feel more comfortable and that to me is the critical piece. After getting Adhesive Capulitis ( frozen shoulder ) in my left shoulder I had to shift to my right arm but it never felt right. Always felt somewhat ackward, especially timing. To me it's all about what works best for my footing , balance, timing and manuverability. As far as the gun thing it doesn't matter which arm you use, doesn't matter to the dog. Bad guys shoot left handed too. gsdlova also brought up a good point, that's why it's important to agitate the dog ( I'm talking P.P. training) with bare arms and with both arms. Obviously make sure dog is cabled when doing bare arms so your distance can be measured accurately . Just my opinion..

Hundguy that was a spook101 answer. Those are the kind of posts that make this site frusterating.

I put a smiley face on there.. It's all good.... What he said...
Watsongsd,
If you are doing suit, hidden sleeve work I would teach object arm grips.. When training for K-9 you should always teach object arm, you don't want the dog getting shot point blank... That's one reason I dislike leg grips.....

That is what I was thinking also Dennis. I'll probably ask him today. He's a retired K9 sgt. so that would explain why he uses sleeve on right arm. More likely to have a gun in right hand as most people are right handed.

If 4pack wasn't such a jackass trying to stir shit she might have noticed that.
Sleeve arm is a matter of preference. Most right handers wear it on the left arm and vice versa.
