Policemom,

Do your dogs like to swim?  If you have access to a lake or river you could really wear them out by throwing a floating toy into the water and have them swim to retrieve it.  It's great exercise for the dogs with no impact to the joints.

But what's this about not wanting to get wet anyway?  You're not one of those prissy chicks are you?  ;)  Just kidding.  I suggest getting some wet weather gear, rain coat and pants in a lightweight waterproof but breathable fabric.  Gore-Tex is your friend, darlin'!

Gore -tex definitely helps outdoors and some sturdy non slip mud boots. That and walking in a deep tree forested area when it's raining as well. Whenever there has been a really good rain my fella sure does love that fresh clean smell of the woods , road and everything else..it sure beats a hot, dusty, dry summer in my opinion and my dogs.!!! I'm always trying to come up with mentally challenging, non house destoying activiities, games to do with my dog indoors....you can only play hide the kibble or sock so many times indoors(lol) any suggestions for indoor activities? I'm still working on explaining the rules of chess to my fella and he still prefers to eat the food rather than cook it in the kitchen!!

Well now that you mention it, we've got a room in the basement aptly named the "Rumble Room" which is completely devoid of furniture and breakables.  I'll take my dog down there sometimes for training.  My husband and I are planning on building a new house and we're going to design a new Rumble Room as part of the design.  Fun fun fun.
