try not to worry, ha i have to much invested already not to worry! i re-enlisted for the purpose of using the money to purchase a couple of imported gsd's. although new to the world of training and maybe in the future being a hobby breeder. my wife loves the dogs so much after we got them, she now want's to go to a trainer school and be a certified trainer/ maybe handle some dogs in competition. i go at everything so full bore my mom now thinks i need my head checked! she doesn't understand that i spent so much money to buy the best i could afford! they may not be titled and the next va's or world champ wusv dogls but their already my champions. i'm of the opinion as long as you and your dog is having fun then it's a sport. i get frustrated and discouraged reading alot of post's on this site. being who i am i'd like to take some people out and treat them as i hear their dogs are treated. winning is ok and fun but if you have to win or have ''the best dog'' then maybe you should find another sport! breeders that are in it for the better of the breed? ha i've seen the webpages, elaborate and they may have great dogs, but just because your dad is a brain surgeon doesn't mean you will be is the way i see it! sorry to ramble, and go on a tyrant. but for those on this board that give great advice and are humble, you know who you are and they are, THANK YOU for the service you provide. i and i'm sure many others come here for the wealth of knowledge there is out there and the advice of people that are way more expeirenced than i.

for those of you who like to talk crap about everyone else's dogs and what their not and how they don't know anything. well i don't know what to tell you. except stay away from me, i'm here to learn and meet other nice people that have experience to share! i want to learn, and do right by the dogs i love! i'm not breeding, don't plan on making a living doing it. don't ever plan to make a living doing it. would i like to breed, yes.  not to better a dog that is already great, just to produce a few great dogs!

sincerely,

Go kenny Go, and thank you.

Make sure your wife is not feeding any of the recalled food or dog toothpaste. It would not hurt to have a full blood work check up. If ever a problem down the road, they come in handy to compare to.

it might be better not to feed her tonight and let her settle    water and a bowl of Chicken noodle soup or chicken n rice.......I sometime get panicky with all this talk about dog food and what it contains that we dont know about......liquids for a day would do.......

definately, she needs to see the vet in the morning.  excessive thirst may mean an infection and since she is just coming out of heat, i would worry about uterine infection.  during heat they are very susceptible.

my middle son spent a year in iraq and it was the worst year of my life.  (worry)  but he came home without a scratch.  now i just have to hope he doesn't get sent back.

best of luck to you and also your dog.

i'm not so worried about the food, as neither of my males got sick, since they all eat fromthe same bag of food,  the wife doesn't use tooth paste so that can't be a problem either. glad to hear your son is home safe zeigen! hopefully i'll be home in sept! i already talked to the wife about having the blood workup done and she's going to get a stool done to make sure she hasn't gotten parasites somehow! sorry i went on a tyrant here, but i can't afford for anything to happen to her. she's our family dog and is a wonderful specimen of what i think a gsd family dog should be! a ''social butterfly'' as bill told me when i picked her up.

again thanks everyone for the support,

sincerely, kenny

well, the news. is  it's a parasite, wife couldn't remember what. said she'll be fine, take 5pills at same time 1x a day for 5 day's and is on some wierd canned food diet for a week? i'm dumbfound, vet said people can get it too and they have to wash their hands before and after handling, playing with her?

Chicken noodle soup would have done the job   probably Sciencediet prescription dog food that all vets make you think you need....You can cool chicken and rice easier and less expensive that SD canned food.....remember our Mom and gannies knew chicken soup cures all......I guess you better post the parasite so we all know  ......and learn ....dont worry Kenny, its good to be concerned....you will learn how to determine after this pup get raised and your next pup will be easier......experience and drama and tears and worry teach us a lot of well learned rememberances....
