Would you want your 14 year old daughter having a baby!  That's what it's equivalent too IMO!

Although, working at a vet, we do see our fair share of stupid people breeding their dogs at a young age just because they can.

it is disgusting to purposely breed a 9 month old puppy .The first amendment has nothing to do with this. the first amendment does not allow you to speew all things from 'your voice'you can not go into a movie theatre and yell FIRE and call it first amendment [unless there is a fire]. The first amendment has nothing to do with this thread and truth is an absolute defense against slander. It is terrible to breed that poor puppy on purpose.

Absolutely deplorable. This person shold be utterly ashamed of themselves, but obviously, they have no shame. I thought the AKC had age restrictions for parents of registered litters? Maybe not, we all know how money hungry the AKC is and how they turn the other cheek to so many things that shouldn't happen.

"but it is within AKC rules, unfortunately. So there's not much you can do."

What I don't understand is why there is nothing we can do? There has got to be someone ethical that works for the AKC, who can up the age requirements. By them allowing someone to register a litter out of a mother that young, is clearly not promoting/backing anything "Responsible" or "Ethical"

The AKC has done nothing but enable the puppy mills and back yard breeders to continue pumping out puppies, with no regard for the overpopulation problems, and people who are striving to breed for the right reasons. This is just disheartning. I am always amazed at how low people will go to make a buck.

Unfortunately, according to AKC it's perfectly fine to breed 7 month old males and 8 month old females.  Here's from the AKC website "Rules for Registering a litter":

SECTION 5. No dog or litter out of a dam under eight

(8) months or over twelve (12) years of age at time of

mating, or by a sire under seven (7) months or over

twelve (12) years of age at time of mating, will be registered

unless the application for registration shall be

accompanied by an affidavit or evidence which shall

prove the fact to the satisfaction of The American Kennel

Club.

SECTION 6. No litter of purebred dogs and/or no

Poor baby! Way to young IMO to be bred. If it were an accident it would be bad enough but to breed her intentionally..... I think these people may not have a clue, so if you do know them I would try to encourage them to be feeding her correctly so she doesn't get to emaciated. It will pull alot from her no matter what, may never pass a hip xray now.

Oh hey, at least they specify that they can't be bred after the age of 12.  That's nice of them.  Nah, they're not in it for the money at all.  AKC that is.  I think they're worse than the breeders that are in it for the bucks.

If you read their "rules" carefully, you'll see the only reason they limit the age AT ALL is because they don't think a dog under or over the ages listed COULD produce puppies.  They'd still register the litter outside of those ages if the application is "accompanied by an affidavit or evidence which shall prove the fact...".   This policy shows no concern for the health of the dogs whatsoever.

The AKC is all about the money.  I think you are doing the right thing informing people about this unethical breeder.  People can sue anyone for anything, doesn't mean it won't get tossed out.  Telling the truth is not slanderous.  The AKC is a whore & is all about the money.   People complain about the SV system, but it's head and shoulders above any other organization in trying to protect the breed.
