Like I said before I dont think clubs that do this are bad just not the way I like to handle things.  I have a business that is similar to a schutzhund club and I like to have the control myself rather than my students.  I do listen to their input.

I think if you tell the person they were voted out because "Their head is WAAAYY to big for our little schutzhund field" it would be fine.  I think the person has a right to know why.

You guys have a great club with VERY helpful members I am sure you dont have much of a problem.

Shelly, the lone ranger still had Tonto and his trusty steed silver...so being the lone ranger wouldnt be that bad:-)

Raven,

We always communicate the reason why someone did not get accepted.  Sometimes it's as simple as the fact that we've already got 20 dogs lined up and only 1 very tired helper.

Sometimes we get lucky and a jerk will vote himself off the island, and then a club vote isn't even necessary.   I'm glad we don't get that often.

The problem may not even be the person per se... we had one guy we voted off the island because he had a large, dominant, aggressive dog that he could not control.   Should we just wait until the dog bites someone before taking action?   I felt sorry for the guy as he was as nice a fellow as you'd ever meet, but he was warned this would happen if he couldn't maintain control of his dog.

You are likely to encounter different policies at different clubs.  Each club as an organization should determine their procedures and by-laws.  Some clubs might run like a dictatorship where the TD calls the shots on anything.  Other clubs might be more democratic.

The bad news is that none of these admistrative systems are perfect.  It's inevitable that over time conflicts will occur, feelings will get hurt, people will be offended,.... and life goes on.   Do the best you can with what you got.

Best wishes for your search for your club!

Yvette

Patches, if you are in south central PA area, may I suggest that you contact Molly Graff, Eichenluft, if you are still looking for a training club. She knows where they are in this area.

Blitzen,

I have found one. I have to wait awhile to see how the VOTE goes. Could you give me the info on how to contact Molly Graft, Eichenluft? e-mail? website? I would love to check out other clubs. I believe if they can vote you in/out, well you should be able to vote them in/out. Thanks a million

Hi Patches,

Molly's email is eichenluft@aol.com

May I ask where you live. I think the club in York is still active, nice bunch of people. I used to live in Yor, am now close to Gettysburg.  I don't train Blitz, but have attended one of their trials. Molly knows them and can give you all the information if you live in that area. Good luck with your dog!
