Coccidia and giardia are both organisms NOT parasites. Albon is an antibiotic and I do not give antibiotics to puppies unless there is cause to.

Side note:

Although... if you get coccidia in your whelping room you will most likely always have to treat for it because it lives forever in the environment.  I suppose in that case I would go ahead and treat for it, but normal protocol for dosage is 10-14 days.

My vet has said numerous times regarding cocci, welcome to florida.  I do worm pups at 2/4/6/8 and mom as well. I usually do the 1 wk of albon from lambriarvet like Molly to prevent it.

Hi shri, I find that putting a pesticide in a new little puppy at 2,4,6,8,10 weeks is a little harsh to their new little systems. I use fenbendazole 1 ml/cc per 4 lbs for 3 days, at 6 weeks old to work very well. It comes under the name of "Panacur" Also I do worm mom at the same time.
