So let me get this straight....Athos is not dead.....Why did she make up all of that crazy mess about him and why are we just now finding out.

Why do people have a problem with posting a dog on craigslist? is it any difference from using a newspaper or say pedigree database. I know it is against craigslist rules for breeders to post litters on it, but not individual dogs. I also read that in some breeders contracts they get first chance if the dog is to be rehomed. Does that mean an owner does not have the right to sale their dog to someone else?

James,  I don't think it was anything to do with advertising or selling a dog, after all that is how we get dogs.  This was about someone who didn't pay for dogs, sold other people's dogs without permission, lied about the health of dogs they refused to pay fully for and had dogs in their care poisoned.  If you read about or Google Vickie Lanig  you can see the whole sordid mess.

I'm new here (as far as being a member is concerned but have used the database periodically). I'm based in the UK and have been involved with GSDs for a long time - I grew up with them and have 3 of my own now.

I knew of of Hessel and my sincerest condolences to anyone who has had dealings with this woman. I don't know her personally, but I am aware of someone going by the name of Vicki Knighton - is this the same person because there seems to be far too much information that is identical to Vickie Lanig's info?

Over here also we know abtu Craigslist as an unreliable place to source anything. I know fo someone on a UK dog forum who has seen a picture of her dog associated with an advert to sell a dog on Craigslist. I don't know if there's any connection to this Vicki(e) person but I really wouldn't be surprised.

Fortunately England is a tiny place and although it's easier to get caught doing something, at least in the US the authorities seem to take action to protect animals.

Thanx YR. Does she have links to the army? I looked her up on FB and one of her "friends" (maybe a relative considering the same surname) claims to be from the same place as her but lives currently in Afghanistan?!
Personally, I don't considering working away from home to be a permanent palce of residence. or maybe I think differently.

I must admit, the more I've tried to find out about her, the more "cloak and daggers" everything seems to become. I'm so pleased I've never had the misfortune of even meeting this woman and now I know a lot more about her, if we did ever met (doubtful when I'm thousands of miles away) I'd be sure to steer well clear.

What a nasty piece of work though, no?! Why be involved with dogs only to treat them that way. People like her should be treated the same way they treat their dogs. Sometimes it's a shame that dogs in general are such forgiving animals. But what goes around comes around. This woman may deserve everything she gets. However, I doubt very much that she'll ever get everythign she deserves.
