Gg you are making a link/comparison. nobody is claiming the current state of science is innerrant, infallible or won't be different in 100 years like it is different to what it was 100 years past. christians are claiming the bible is the word of god and explains all of creation correctly and is the precise word to follow to gain entry into an eternal after life of bliss/heaven or torture/hell.

if so should that word be beyond local variations, interpretations, context, fads, variations in language, dialect, culture, time and so on.

you really have nothing at all except wishful thinking and a overwhelming desire that you want heaven to be true and you want to go there.

so basic, demanding and self centred you are.

Do you have any idea how the history of the invention of paper makes the idea of writing a "fairy tale" with the purpose of frightening children a wasteful idea? And therefore, highly unlikely.

However in 751 A.D. the T'ang army was defeated by the Ottoman Turks at a mighty battle at the Talas River. Some Chinese soldiers and paper makers were captured and brought to Samarkand. The Arabs learned the paper making from the Chinese prisoners and built the first paper industry in Baghdad in 793 A.D.

Irrelevant, i must be missing yr point? yr saying the stories in the bible whether told verbally or read have no impact on the reader??

i really not sure of yr point here??

by beetree on 22 March 2014 - 23:03

You can't make the connection, that is. Think just a little bit harder. Look at the dates. Timeline is another good bit to think about. Portability and probablilty, too.

by vk4gsd on 22 March 2014 - 23:03

No sorry must be having a dumb moment,, your point is myths, fables, facts etc have no impact if written but they do if told in another non written media??

by beetree on 22 March 2014 - 23:03

The point is, it can't be a fairy tale because the probability of value to make and use the eventual material that in real time, was used—could never be paper. Therefore, it makes the idea of a certain type of fiction that a fairy tale is generally and universally considered to represent, a poor choice to base an argument during the time when the first copies, ever, of the Bible were made.

Oh so every thing written on paper is non-fiction even if it is marketted as children's as fiction eg harry potter did not justify itself as fiction due to the expense of production do it is a science text book then?

would you introduce ANY variable to avoid a point??

Wrong conclusion. I am not going to play your dumber version of yourself, game. This opportunity is over, vk4.

Vk4....you are living in your own fairy tale or delusion.   You just can't comprehend.   You are the self centered individual here.

by vk4gsd on 23 March 2014 - 01:03

ok i get it, it's my own personal failings to comprehend the majesty and mystery of the almighty creator or accept the thousands of different interpretations of those that can even when they all contradict each other leading to some 41 000 different christian denominations all claiming to be the correct version and some hundreds of different versions of the bible.

all adherents having their own excuses like some posters here, ie the bible is the innerranat and infalible word of god except when it comes to easily verifiable facts, then it depends on the context and how words change over time and translation errors and...and....

all the while claiming it has the precise answers to every question anyone of any era could ask in life + a full explanation of anything and everything that exists, how it came to exist, and what will happen when it ceases to exist - quite the document.

thanks for showing me the way and with such clarity, self-assuredness and christian humilty.

been a hoot
