Ramage

I am not much of a conformation person. I know enough to get by, but it is not my forte. I'd love honest critiques on this guy. He is 19 months. We'd like to get him and my working line bitch out to the next SV show if we can find handlers that aren't already spoken for.

No critiques from me, but he's a nice looking dog.

He's a nice looking dog. Stacked a little funny, I think the right leg looks too far in and left too far back, but stacking isn't my thing :) He's got a beautiful coat, nice ear set, and nice structured head. Hope you have luck with the SV show and handler situation.

The stack does not make it easy, a very good looking dry dark black and tan male, slightly stretched, more than medium size and medium strong, head could use a  little more size, very good and strong neck of good angle to its body, good ear carriage, very good withers length but could be a bit higher, beautiful smooth and slightly sloping topline, slightly long back but of good strength, very nice lay of croup but slightly short, very nice tailset and tail, Good hind angulations but hock should be shorter, good under line. Lacks in fore chest development but depth is good. Very good lay of shoulder blade but front upper arm is short and steep, a clean front and strong pasterns on top of flat feet. All over a beautiful sporty structured male, I like him more than his sister.

I hope that helps.

Thank you everyone :-)

For some reason, I keep stretching him too much. I do not have that issue with my others, but he has not had as much ring training, so I think it's just me being too quick to set up and snap a pic. I will work on getting a better stack.

You seem to be on the right track, both dogs have the patience to stand still. I would caution you not to stack the dog as an american show dog with the hock on the ground. For an AKC match OK for a SV show it will not put the dog in a position the judge wants to see. I would encourage you to show your dogs, I would love to see more working lines in the ring. Remember you only have 5 months left before these two dogs need a working title to show. If I were at the show, I would be glad to handle your dogs as you seem to be working with them. If I were you I would try to find a local conformation breeder who wouldn't mind you there for show practice. I would hope most breeders will not feel threatened and will be glad to help. It is not uncommon for breeders to get together to try to recreate a show atmosphere. In my opinion, Ibrahim's critiques are fairly accurate. Please keep us updated on how they do.

Thank you! I have a show in mind for both this winter and they'd be right under the deadline before needing their titles. We are working on titles, but it would be nice to get SG ratings on them in the meantime and to see what the judges think of them. I have never been to an SV show in person, so it will be new to all of us!

I missed the last show in the region because I messed up my paperwork

Speaking of which, are there going to be any handler at the SE Regional that need dogs to show? I don't have the info in front of me, but I think it was going to be in SC sometime this fall/winter.

Wow, I checked UScA's and WDA's website and that seems to be the only show in that neck of the woods. It is only one week before the WDA sieger show in Chicago. You should contact the host club to see if they can help, some clubs such as the WDA club in Statesville NC are incredibly helpful when putting on a show. Other thoughts are El Divo in Florida, Von Lotta in Georgia, Von der Sauk in South Carolina, or possibly asking Dog1 as he may have some other good ideas and doesn't mind helping others. Good luck - Hugh
