I can hardly wait, I'll be picking up my new puppy Jan 9th.
Papa is Titan vom Mittelwest, and mama is Khloe von Rheinhardt.  Hopefully she'll be as wonderful as my Lucy was.  I'll be pestering the heck out of all of you again, picking your brains!

Congrats! Maybe the other 267 viewers are shy? Or forgot what it felt like to get a new puppy? Who knows, it happens on a lot of threads. And again Congrats and don't forget the pics.

Well, this is my first view of your thread, and I'm with 4 mals2sheps---got a name picked out yet? How old will she be when you pick her up? What made you decide on this puppy, and on this litter? What've you got planned for your new girl--will she be 'employed' strictly as a family member and companion, or are you thinking she'll be doing 'side jobs' like SchH, obedience, agility, etc?  That ought to hold me for now...and theeeeeeennnnn, when you get her home, you can show us new pics!

Oh, wait--do you have any pics of her w/her mom or littermates, or does the breeder have them posted on their website somewhere?  It's interesting to see how their markings change as their coats develop...and how you can see their personalities in their little faces as early as three weeks, and even with coat changes and structural development, the expression of their character in their faces remains constant.  I love that about baby puppies...guessing "who" they are from their faces at three weeks, and then watching them grow and seeing if their behaviors and attitude fit your initial impression of them (they usually do). Lucky you, getting a new puppy!  :)

Well,  my first girl was one of Fabian vom mittelwest so I thought I'd just stick with that, she was wonderful and between her and this board I felt like I was the one in school, I learned alot.  The new girl will be 8 weeks old when I pick her up.  She will be a companion and do obedience and agility, we'll go from there.

Thanks
Pam

Congrats, you must be SO excited. Just a thought - this might get a lot more attention on the main GSD board.

well i hope  she is good cause i have heard not so good things from the breeder of the female.

Hmm, trixx.  Bloodline-wise, I can't really find fault with either parent; Khloe, untitled/unsurveyed but with a1 hips, is a out of a titled, surveyed working-line male and a titled, surveyed show-line bitch, and Titan went VA1 at the 2010 Siegerschau here in the US, so the pairing should satisfy those who favor the showlines...it's not a tight pedigree, either, with the only line-breeding being on Ursus Batu back in the 4th and 5th generations--that's pretty 'open' for a showline pedigree.  I suppose the pricing isn't bad @ $1600, although I do know you can find equally as well-bred pups out of TWO titled, breed-surveyed parents for that much or even less...but I'm of a mind that as long as both the buyer and the seller feel the price is fair, who am I to say it isn't?   When you say you've heard 'not so good things about the breeder of the female', are you referring to von Rheinhardt, or the breeder of this particular litter?  A websearch didn't turn up anything untoward about von Rheinhardt...it does appear that they primarily just purchase titled imports for their breeding stock, and have recently entered the Czech/DDR working lines pond; it doesn't look like they do anything with their dogs save for breeding them and selling the pups, and while I'm not a fan of 'checkbook breeders', they don't appear to be doing anything that lots of other US German-lines breeders are doing (sadly enough, but this is a free country and it's not my money being spent).

What DOES raise some red flags for me is the fact that Khloe is listed under "Our Females" on *two* different kennels' websites--Rassehund Kennels, and Alpha German Shepherds--and although this litter is only listed on Alpha's site, if you check out the "photo gallery" pages for both sites, they are nearly identical (i.e., same pictures can be found in both galleries). Rassehund's site showed a breeding of Khloe for them in Spring 2011 on their "Litters" page, too--but Rassehund's home page reads only "CLOSED. UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE."  It's worrisome to me when a breeder appears to be operating under two different kennel names, yet the breeding stock are exactly the same dogs for each kennel.  The OTHER thing that REALLY sends up a red flag is this statement on the bottom of Alpha's "About Us" page:

"We are located in Wisconsin and offer shipping and delivery service of our German Shepherd puppies  nationwide.  You will find our Shepherds in many states across the country.  If you are within 150 miles, we can hand deliver your puppy to you."

I've been all through both Alpha's site and Rassehund's site, and other than saying that they're located in WI, no info is given as to even the general area where the kennel(s) are located, and no telephone numbers are provided on the sites--just email addresses for contact info. The litter advertisements on other sites, like k9stud.com and various other places that run classifieds for puppies, do include a general location (Appleton), and a telephone number, but it's still odd that no such info appears on the websites. That, along with their willingness to 'hand deliver your puppy to you', suggests to me that they *might* not want prospective buyers seeing how the dogs are kept, and the conditions under which the pups were raised, nor meet the dam of the litter.  Now, it's entirely and absolutely possible that I'm wrong about this, and the breeder gladly welcomes prospective buyers to visit the kennel themselves--I don't know either way.  I'm only saying that there are things that should and do throw up cautionary flags when I read advertisements and web pages, and an offer to deliver the puppy within the general area of the kennel is one of those things.

If they're going to let the OP pick up her puppy at their place, that would be reassuring, though it doesn't address the dual kennel names question.  But as far as the breeding behind this pup goes, I can see no reason why she shouldn't have the same potential as her predecessor, Lucy, to grow up into a wonderful companion and partner in OB and agility and whatever else the OP has planned.   Just another 12 days, eddyhdy, and you'll be bringing your puppy home!
