Fraud? - Page 1

I recently received a letter from AKC stating they received an application to register a litter sired by my imported GSD (imported in 2019), but needed DNA for “imported breeding stock”. The problem is my male was neutered a year ago and has not been exposed to any females. The AKC will not provide me with ANY info about the owner of the bitch. Her registered name/AKC is DN52298604 Cody Tasha Betsy. I have searched this data base and unsuccessful at finding who is attempting to registered anlitter sired by my male. Any ideas?

The PDB member that entered Cody Tasha Betsy on the PDB does not list the sire or dam.  Cody Tasha Betsy was entered on the PDB 2 1/2 years ago.

She has 1 progeny on the PDB do not see any future litters on the PDB

Is it possible she got frozen semen from your dog's previous owner?

I imported this dog when it was quite young. I doubt the breeder collected semen before exporting.

I did see Cody Tasha Betsy listed, but no owner name. I am just wondering who owns her and how/why they are attempting to register a litter with my dog as sire. The paper says the litter was whelped July 4th. It just seems odd to me that someone can lie about my dog as sire, but i cannot obtain the name of the owner.

Recommend you contact AKC and explain what is going on. Email will give you a record of when you notified them of the attempted/possible fraud.

I wonder if AKC thinks something's up and don't want to accuse without any ammunition?

I hope maybe it's a different dog with a very similar name and it's an honest mistake/carelessness by the person trying to register the litter.

I did talk to AKC. They told me to write a note on their letter stating my dog was neutered and had not been exposed to any females. They stated they could not share info about the female dog’s owner due to privacy policy. So strangers can utilize my info, but i have no recourse.

It appears as though AKC's procedure is working. An attempted (or mistaken) fraud occurred but was not completed because AKC contact's the stud owner as in this case.

Just curious-what recourse would you want if you had the person's name?

Sorry--didnt see the actual question-- Is it possible that the stud sired that litter before coming to the USA?.AKC hopefully will recognize what's going on and deal with it. It could be innocent-- I would be hesitant to provide DNA for any dog in a situation like this if they aren't providing info to you. Why don't you contact the breeder or previous owner to see if they sold a breeding to your dog overseas?

I am surprised to hear the AKC would inquire about a DNA sample.

I have been corresponding with AKC regarding registering our German Shepherd dog.

Since the breeder (mentioned earlier here as Alla Zorikova) will not give the AKC our correct littler information, I inquired about using the DNA to prove our dog was part of the litter they had in their system.

AKC stated "we do not accept DNA for registration purposes."
