I thought it had been discussed on here before, but nothing comes up in a search.
I know it's for a service dog title, but what exactly does the dog do to earn it? What organization offers it or uses it?

Who was the last owner of Arek von uns Heimaturt? Was he last in the USA or Europe somehwere?

GSD Lineage,
Yes I know WHAT the DH stand for ;)
What I'm wondering is what does the dog need to do, what kind of Testing/training goes into getting the DH?

by GSD Lineage on 11 October 2014 - 11:10
northwoodsGSD I would also like to know. I would like to know if it is a test, if so, what kind, or if the dog is an actual service animal working on the streets in service to someone with a disability after passing a certification?
I hope someone who knows or has/had a DH dog will tell us.

Check the comments. :(. Apparently he was left at a shelter in his senior age, when he needed his family most.

Arek wasn't "left at a shelter".
He is most likely passed on by now.
There is no record of any "DH" title on his scorebook, or in any of his SV paperwork.
I would bet the german guy who sold him added it.. embellishment.

So does anyone know what it takes to get the DH title? Is it an SV title or from somewhere else?

by susie on 26 January 2015 - 18:01
Momo, there is a DH1 and DH2, made by police dogs, acknowledged by SV, that said, this trial will be in the pedigree.
Dogs with an officail DH trial are allowed to participate on the SV breed survey.
The trial in itself is devided into tracking, obedience, and bitework.
There are some private organizations offering DH trials, but they are fishy and undefined.
