Scott, Thank you for reporting this.

No, a dog registered with AKC can not have a different name and same registration number.

Zada Caine de Lup (pedigreedatabase.com) marked requiring correct registration number otherwise it will be deleted from the PDB.

Correct dog is

DN31014808

Mikannes Zada Z Von Dak
(German Shepherd Dog)

Color:

Sable

Sex/Whelp Date:

Female / MAY-20-2011

Dogs that are littermates will have registration numbers that are only one digit different from each other. I'm guessing that's what happened here - the person entering the dog made a typo on the number.

Edit: Zada Caine de Lup is not in the AKC dog lookup. If it was ever  registered with the AKC, it would be.

The other dog is there.

So, this increases the likeliehood this was NOT a typo!  (I LOVE doing detective work like this...) :D

Two possible scenarios.

Go to the von dak listing and look at progeny. Her last two litters contained pups named with the de Pup kennel name.

Then go to the Zada de lup listing progeny. There is one B litter pup out of the same sire ( Togo) shown under the von dal bitch.

Possibility one puppy buyer of this latter pup came to register pup and seeing the kennel name de lup on whatever papers they had or information remembered presumed mom Zada carried same kennel name and created the record. Does history show who created each record? Can they be contacted?

Second scenario - since AKC now allows names 2b changed ( stupidity incarnate imho, just a money grab) perhaps the owner of the bitch or a co-owner since litters seem to carry several kennel names tried to change the bitch's name with AKC and either was unsuccessful or has not yet completed it. They may have left both records in pdb because it is theoretically possible some AKC records show under each name.

Most likely scenario is the bitch either got sold outright after first litter or placed on a co- ownership since the pdb1 record show that the user name for the de lip entry is user caninedelup.

Sunsilver, TIG went through all the AKC registration numbers in that litter Zada Caine de Lup was not there. Birth date the same so it was probably not registered yet or name is different.

GH,

User cainedelup has a # of other pedigrees he has created, has been around for awhile and sounds like he would know better. Perhaps as I said a co- owner attempting an AKC change of name?

He has a current ad running.
