She looks so similar to the 1920's photos of imported GSD's. She is fierce! Excellent worker and protection dog but still very calm and social. She also herds our small livestock and helps us round up our boars.

I also included a link to the specific sales page I am referring to. I am curious to know your thoughts on her conformation and her possible linage. Thanks!

That's a pretty pearl necklace on her.

Would love to see pics of her and your livestock...especially of her herding boars!

As for what lines she is, my guess is she is blended lines with strong W. Ger showline influence.
Do you know her pedigree?

by hexe on 08 September 2012 - 04:09

She's not likely to be of American showlines, though it's possible she could be a blend of American and European lines. It's impossible to really identify her breeding just from looking at her, beyond to say that she's a lovely, typey bitch that is not extreme in any particular area; all in all, she appears to be very correct, albeit with the somewhat straighter shoulder more often seen in the working line dogs.  A very nice bitch, and you are fortunate to have her. May she live a long, happy, and most importantly HEALTHY life with you. Thumbs Up

EuroShepherd, I noticed the pearls, too.  There's a burgeoning "PR" movement with shelters and rescues to have available pets photographed by professional photographers, who donate their time & skills, and they use props such as pearl necklaces, bow ties, scarves and the like to up the 'eye appeal' of the animals when they post their profiles on PetFinder or their own websites... She is a very pretty girl, isn't she?  If she indeed is a rescue, they the OP is even more fortunate that I knew...she's quite a find, with that herding talent to go along with her good looks!

Thank you very much! I feel very fortunate to have this girl. With so little known about her lineage it was a very risky purchase, but in many ways she is even more versatile than my well bred working line GSD. She is from a local hobby breeder. She was in the last litter a couple of very old dogs produced. I was told by the breeder that the parents were acquired while her husband was stationed overseas. He also met and married her during that time too. That was the song and dance I was given. In their defense the wife was definitely british and the husband was definitely retired military. We already had a phenomenal working line dog but wanted a dog we could also take into crowds of people (lots of wine festivals around here.... we don't like to miss them :) without having to keep an eye on the dog, or the people/ kids approaching. Her breeder told me that he bred for an even temperament. They sure were even... a bit dull is you ask me. But Lacy has kicked total ass. Just got a hard bite bar sleeve and she latched on it immediately. My working line boy was a bit taken aback by it lol. They had only worked on soft sleeves before. Both my dogs herd goats and sheep from one pasture to another almost every day and get our pigs moving (which is impossible for mere humans to do LOL) from whatever area we have them tilling up for us back to their pen, or out of the woods and onto the truck. Lemme look through my photos and see if I can find some of her working with the livestock. She is also a CGC, for what its worth around here.
I make pearl pet collars and sell them on Etsy. If you want one let me know :) Lacy is the perfect model and my pink obsession outlet. She even has a pink agitation collar :) I also make Jack o' Lanterns that resemble dog breeds. http://www.etsy.com/shop/ThePioneerPrincess?ref=top_trail

Very nice!  She sounds like a keeper to me.

I'm sure a very nice female but somewhat lacking the criteria to be considered a foundation female. Normally a 'foundation' female is one from a series of proven results passed from genertation to generation through the motherline. Walter Martin discussed his foundation female in his article by Ricardo Carbajal. The two dogs that have successfully produced generation after generation of success are on another website. Dogs like Dasti Farbenspiel, Mirka Osterberger land, Feli vom Oschentor, would be some other examples of a foundation female. All females with proven results to build upon.

Without knowing your dogs pedigree and being unable to trace a few generations of success. It's difficult to qualify her as a foundation or foundation bred. She may very well be, but it starts with you as your foundation female.

She's even got a pink agitation collar.

I do hope you can find one of her wearing that among your photo collection.
Got any of faces of any of club members when they saw it ?

That is hilarious - good on ya !

vonRegal, sounds like you're living my dream life!  What are all the kinds of livestock you have? and the breeds?  I so wish I had goats n' sheep n' pigs n' more...
Awesome pearl collars, I want to see the pink agitation collar too!

I love Etsy, I often go there to browse and dream, lol.  I don't have the finances currently to spend on non-necessities, but someday I hope I will, then I'll be able to buy cool things from real hand-crafters like yourself :)

Now that I can do! This picture was taken about 8 months ago. Can't find anything good of her with the livestock. I even tried to take some pics of the dogs with them this morning but they all just look like she is just chasing goats or staring them down lol. Which I suppose is a quite accurate job description :P
