Another product to consider is Wobenzyme (created by 2 Columbia University scientists--Dr Wolf and Dr Benitz and it is an enzyme, hence Wobenzyme, that is the leading over the counter arthritis remedy in Germany. It is available in the US and there is even one "specifically for dogs" which however is only different in the color of its label and costing $10 more. I have used Wobenzyme for many years quite successfully. I have had GSDs with arthritis enjoying bitework at age 13. But it is important not to jump your dogs. You can give up to six tablets a day if needed but best to start off with less. The only possible side effect is diarrhea. None of my dogs ever got that from it. I would put three tablets in their breakfast and three in their dinners. I have combined this with a capsule supplement (for humans) that has Chondrotin, Glucosamine and MSM.
