Networking face-to-face is important:
Are you involved with a local club? (or one located closer to a larger population center?
Are you showing your dogs? Do they have titles? Do their progeny earn titles? Registration paperwork up-to-date and properly filed?
Are you doing any performance events (IPO, PSA, etc.) or organized event competition (dock diving, etc.)
Are you listed on the AKC website as a Breeder of Merit, etc.?
Do you have a good website? Can potential buyers and and past buyers see your dogs, bitches, and all previous litters with pedigrees? I really like being able to see the litter page on my breeder's website with my puppy.
PDB sells ads. Look at what's posted now in both the premium and regular listings for ideas. I see some regulars with ads, so I assume the ads produce good results.
Yes, people will travel to purchase and pick up a puppy. I traveled over 10 hours one-way to pay for and pick up my puppy (in a rural area). The return trip took much longer because of pee and poo and a scheduled stop. We started bonding during our first road trip. I stopped at my Vet on the way home and had her checked. Then we continued home. Nice way to get a puppy and I had an awesome breeder that sold me an awesome puppy, who grew up to be an awesome dog. THANK YOU, Sarah!
