What Steve means by, "better if I handle it" is there is a lot more going on with the dog than what you see in the picture or have been told.
I just spent some time with him earlier and he will see my vet soon. He isn't a dog most people (almost everyone) will want to deal with.
He needs a quiet place to rest and not be bothered by anyone. Probably 11 or 12 years old. Definitely not for children.
I saw pictures of his previous living conditions. They were atrocious.
The tops of his ears have been eaten off by flies. The dog has never had a name (until now).
At least he was being fed. It looks like he weighs about 85lbs.
He is very handsome! Would love to know the breeding.

Bless you OGBS.  I hope someone can give him some peace in his few remaining years.

OGBS, please PM me with info on how to get some $$ to you to help with the vet costs.  This fella is breaking my heart.  Blessings on you for taking him on, and to everyone who offered to help out as well.  He deserves so much more than he's been given in this life so far.  I only hope he has a few years left  [health-wise] during which he can enjoy being a well-loved companion and friend instead of an afterthought that's been tossed out back.

I am very happy to report that Tanner was able to make the trip to my vet yesterday and did very well considering the circumstances.
He is, for sure, 11 or 12 years old. He's lived a hard life, but, his excellent temperament and genetics are allowing him to allow us to help him.
After everything he's been through, it is awesome to see him wag his tail because he recognizes me now. Tanner really likes Dana a lot!
After a really good ear cleaning by Will, one of the best vet techs in the business, he can actually hear a little bit now and will respond some when you talk to him.
His eyesight isn't very good at this point, but, he uses his nose to get him around rather well, again considering he has no idea where he is.
Here are a few pictures of Tanner:
The first picture is what we have been dealing with inside his mouth. My vet removed it and a tooth.
It is called an epulis. (sorry if it's gross to see, but, it's good to learn about these things)
The rest of the pictures are just a few outside the vet clinic when Dana and I went there this morning and walked him.

This last picture is Tanner leaving the vet's office this afternoon!

Here is a quick YouTube video of Tanner today.

Bless your heart for pulling him. How can we help now?

Awww, that is just AWESOME!  I am not familiar with his oral issue and will look it up, but did he have teeth underneath that?  in the short video clip he looks like a gentle old soul?  is it misleading?

Presently, it's a bit of a wait and see.
We are going to let him recover a bit and then decide where the best place is for Tanner to live the rest of his life.
That may be with me. We aren't quite sure yet.
I will keep everyone updated.
