My three year old Staff recently died while at a vet's office.  She was very healthy and beautiful.  I took her in for her normal vaccinations annually as I had always done.  Because of the recent hysteria in her old vet's town about pits, etc., I took her to a different vet in a different city that was recommended to me.

When we walked in for our appointment, my girl was weighed in the waiting room.  I did not fill out any papers or sign any authorizations, etc.  We were placed in an exam room.  The vet walked in, talked briefly with me, and then took my dog out of the room, saying he would be "right back".  A few minutes later, he came in with my dog.  My dog, Roxie, laid down on the floor.  The vet began speaking to me but did not get five words out before I noticed that my dog was breathing funny.  I asked him why she was breathing that way.  He said, "What way," and i pointed to my dog who had labored breathing.  She rolled over onto her side and appeared to have passed out or died.  The vet quickly checked her heart and told me, "it was okay."  He then checked her pupils which I saw were dilated and non-reactive.  Roxie then urinated and defecated...I thought she was died.

I began telling the vet to do something.  He tried to open her airway and then ran from the room and came back with some type of injection.  After giving it to her, she seemed to come back to life although dazed.  I walked her around the room slowly and thought she was going to be alright.

The vet said she had possilby had a reaction to a vaccine.  I asked him what he had done to her when he took her from the room.  I knew it was not to weigh her...that had already been done.  He said he had given her an intranasal bortedella vaccination, had implated a microchip (as I had requested), and withdrawn blood to test for heartworms.

He told me I should leave her with him so they could monitor her.  I did and two hours later I called to check on her.  I was on hold forever and then the vet came on the phone and said they were giving her CPR.  I rushed there but she was dead when I got there.

He said she had a heart attack.  I feel he made some kind of mistake or has issues wtih bullies.

Is there a way to confirm he gave the intranasal vaccine intramuscularly or subcutaneously?  I believe that is what killed her.

Please...I am heartbroken.  Any help would be appreciated.
