I have a 7 mnth old Male APBT pup. He has entered into a anxious stage. He is currently entered in Obedience and when we go anywhere he whines so badly. I know it's not aggression but does anyone have any advise on how to handle the anxiousness while he is so young. He is not nuetered as I will be competing with him.
Thanks

is this a high prey wine?  do you do any tug work?
obedience IN DRIVE is a great way to channel the energy.  is he fixated?  not sure without seeing in action.
also what kind of OB?  many pet ob classes are drive killers.  many corrections and very little PLAY.  tug work as play is so valuable.  however you will have to deal with the doubters in class, when they see you give a tug reward and your apbt using his mouth.
what kind of competion?
any working dog clubs near you to learn the art of ob in drive?
will benefit you if you are a show competitor or sport competitor.
do a search on you tube for drive building in dogs.  this opens up a whole other world of training.  takes a bit longer but the finished product is no comparison with a dog trained with traditional kohler methods.  you will see a dog that wants to work and is happy.  rather than a dog that performs to avoid correction.  just my opinion, would like to keep this thread going.

So far the training is basic. I am working with a show person who also does Rally and Obedience but with another breed. She is big on rewarding rather then correction. She is not big on enforcing the negative or what they are not doing right but rather the good and what they are doing good. She is trying to make it fun for the dog. She is very familiar with the breed. I am really wanting to work Rally and Obedience in the UKC, things that are fun. Nothing formal or boring. He isn't much for standing and looking pretty. I like the tug idea, I think I will try that.
