We had a similar case here in Western Pennsylvania, but it involved cats. Another crazy lady ran a shelter for cats and had 650 cats at her Tiger Ranch, which is what she called her shelter. They also lived in deplorable conditions. Concerned people went in with hidden video camera and video taped the conditions and then went to the district attorney. She was charged with 593 counts of animal cruelty. Authorities found hundreds of sick, dying and dead cats. They were also living in their own shit. She also plea bargained her case to 12 counts of animal cruelty and 2 counts of tampering with records. She served 37 days jail time, will be on probation for 27 years and 2 years of house arrest. Many people held rallies in her defense. She was also ordered to have NO contact with animals and receive mental health treatments.
Here is what the judge said, “"I came into this case thinking ... you were most likely a woman who had good intentions but became overwhelmed. From that perspective until today, I have learned quite a lot, You have chosen not to cooperate and spew vitriol in others' direction without taking any personal responsibility for the disaster that Tiger Ranch became." Does this sound familiar?
The assistant district attorney said more than 7,000 cats died at Tiger Ranch. She also said , "Cat bones are strewn about the property, You can't walk at Tiger Ranch without stepping on cat bones."
Well she was recently back in court because she was in the horse breeding business. She never got rid of her horse despite the order to no longer have any contact with animals.
Oh, and she also changed her name.

People, get a clue. Naivete is great, and kindness and empathy are even better, but this kind of thing is unfortunately NOT a victimless crime. There are precious lives involved- why should an animal live this way because some whackjob's brain has a misfire???
Thanks, Dash.

It all goes to the intent of many of the people who are making these arguments against keeping too many dogs.
I was frankly very stupid and I admit that I should NEVER have listened to the "NO KILL" arguments, at all! Ths was my downfall, in my opinion. I let myself get sucked into that one. Never, again!
So, here is the way it works.. OK for "rescue" to abuse and neglect and collect too many animals. OK for animal control to abuse and neglect and torment and hoard and kill animals. Naturally, I suppose a dog understands and agrees that someone with a badge, uniform or a "non profit" organization can do this to them. They do not experience fear and discomfort, and they do not suffer. The dogs realize THAT it is NOT THEIR FAULT!!!! Always someone else is to blame right? This is how it works for the Pet-NAZI industry. This is how they make money and build empire. But it must only go one way.. never against them!

This forum is SO F'd up, in my opinion.. Just like the old 50's movie, "Invasion of the Body Snatchers".. It's been (IMO) taken over by anti-breeding activists, legal / legislative activists.. So, a site that was supposed to be FOR breeders and open discourse if now full of bullying, vitriolic rhetoric and accusations, hostility and talk of "too many puppies", with the occasional obligatory political comment, i.e. referring to the Bush Administration (for example, and yes, I did see one of those).
I know who some of you people are.. that is, the rock you are crawling out from under... or, should I say the activist boiler-room? I know more about you than you think I do.
